Iasia
I held onto my mother's hand tightly as I wiped away yet another tear that had managed to escape from my eye. It was 1:37 in the morning and I was sure I wasn't going to school the next day.
I had gotten home yesterday to see my mom passed out on the floor. The doctors were running tests but as of right now, they couldn't seem to find anything.
I heard my phone buzz for the millionth time, interrupting what felt like me 45th prayer tonight. It was all I seemed to be able to do. "Please God," I spoke aloud. "please don't take her from me. I-I can't be without her." I wiped my nose with the back of my hand before continuing. "I know I don't talk with you as often as I should but I'm begging you. I need her." I laid my head on top of my hand that held hers and sobbed. Before I know it, I drifted off to sleep.
All I could see was white around me. I stood up from the sand I was laying on. I noticed I was wearing a long whit dress and no shoes. I walked through the sand, feeling it between my toes.
"Hi baby." I heard a voice say. "Mom?" I asked, looking around trying to find where the voice came from. "It's me love. Listen to me, everything's gonna be okay baby." I sobbed. "But-but what if everything isn't okay? I can't live without you mom."
"Don't speak like that." she said. "But, if anything does happen to me, I promise you, you'll be fine. I've raised a strong girl."
I smiled but still cried. "Mama, please don't leave me." There was no response. "Mama?" Still nothing. "Mama!" I heard beeping sounds and everything turned black.
I woke up in a full body sweat seeing my mother's body shaking uncontrollably again and the machines connected to her beeping. "Help! Help, please!" I screamed. A bunch of nurses ran into the room within seconds. "What happened?" they asked. "I-I don't know." I stammered. "I was sleeping and I woke up and this was happening. Oh my God please, do something!" I yelled. They began pressing buttons on the different machines. One nurse noticed I was still there and and told me to leave the room. I grabbed my phone before reluctantly walking out.
I paced the hallway back and forth, running my hands through my hair and biting my fingernails. I checked the time on my phone and it read 7:35 am. I figured Ryan should be awake by now, if he had gone to school. I dialed his number to see if he'd answer.
"Hello." he answered groggily.
"H-hi babe." I sniffled. "Do you think you could bring me some clothes and a toothbrush. I'm, uh, at the hospital. Something's wrong with my mom and I-" I was cut off by the sound of the phone beeping, indicating he had hung up on me. I tried calling back a few more times but he sent me to voicemail.
I stood there in shock. I needed him more than anything right now and he had hung up in my face. There was only one other person I thought to call.

I wrote down the math problem in my notebook and held my head in my hands. "Okay, what next?" I asked my new tutor, Bianca. Since Iasia hasn't been to school, they had to recruit a new tutor for me.
"Well, cosine squared is equivalent to?" she asked, waiting for me to finish the sentence. "1-sine squared?" I said with uncertainty. "Yes!" she replied, happily. I finished the problem and turned it towards her for her to check. "You got it! Are you sure you need a tutor?" she smiled. I laughed and turned the notebook back towards me to write the next problem.
