Chapter 7
A Loki Kiss
"No, I'm fine."
When my nurse asked the obligatory, "Are you sure you're going to be all right?" I could tell it almost physically pained her.
"Then you are free to leave," She says with a smirk.
So, I do. Eagerly. The shiny hospital complex behind me floats slowly away from my view as I walk back to the palace. Nobody was sent to pick me up, thus I get to enjoy the beautiful day.
The bustling docks are like a party, the wild birds are chirping a symphony, and each Asgardian has a piece of Lori in them. Everything is brighter; I seem to walk on air.
A couple, young, walks past me. They look upon me in distaste. Nothing can deter my happiness, though. Another couple passes, giving me more cold glances. The sun basks me, fills my body with warmth, and gives me strange chills.
I look back at them as they walk away, their muscular backs moving gently with them arm and arm.
We can't have that.
My perfect day sputters out, the light inside me instantly consumed with darkness.
Never, ever, could Lori and I have that. There is no way. It is forbidden. Not only that, but the way we met, to the things we have done are punishable. I could be killed.
The blooming light is now an eternal darkness. It feels like my soul has been consumed then spit back out, until I stand at the docks, clutching my chest as the seagulls sail above me. A tear drips into a puddle on the ground, which a large sailor stomps onto a minute later, box in hand.
My reflection glooms back at me. And when I see the loss that has already been carved into my eyes, I realize: I was in love. Pitifully, desperately, while my people were practically in shackles, I was in love.

Loki slinks through the halls of the palace. His golden soldier armour apparition glimmers in the torchlight. He heads towards the library, stopping momentarily to speak with two guards, then going slowly through the halls. Loki and Sigyn had made no plans. But she will come, and Loki can be patient.
It takes great endurance to do great things is his motto.
Loki knows all about magic, and with this knowledge comes the ability to test it. Strength and range and precision; the paramounts of magic. Only fools would look at the show of it all. A fireworks display vs the creation of a large black hole; one will be entertaining, one will blot out your enemies. A clever face mask like Sigyn's is like the former. Loki must know whether Sigyn has the power he needs.
Loki slips into the library. His muscles stiffen. Sigyn is already on the veranda. Her face is absolutely crestfallen. A part of Loki's heart, the part that ached for her not to come, to save herself from the monster within him, the part that was in love, flutters and breaks.
He clutches his hands behind his back. Loki smoothly opens the door to the balcony and steps close to Sigyn. "I didn't expect you so early," He says like honey: gooey and dense.
Sigyn jumps. "Oh! I uh- I wasn't sure when you would be here. There is something-"
Loki cuts her off. "First I need you to follow me." He smiles mischievously.
"Ok, but I really need to tell you something."
Loki laughs, taking her arm and pulling her to the exit. "I'm sure the world will keep on with it's madness whether you tell me or not."
