A Very Gay Introduction

Living in the closet is not fun.

Every day, people just assume that I'm straight and that I want a boyfriend. But that is not the case, because I'm gay.

I really want to come out, I do! But whenever I try to type those simple words into a Facebook post, or God forbid I try to utter those words in public, my throat gets tight and I start to freak out.

And it should be easy to come out. I have a very supportive family, and an amazing group of friends with some other LGBT people as well.

But that's not what I'm worried about.

I'm worried about everyone else.

How random people on the street might judge me as I walk by.

How people might call me horrible names like "f*g" or "d*ke".

How I may never be able to be truly myself even out of the closet, out of fear of being cast out.

At least, this is what past me would have said.

You may be confused right now. "What? What do you mean by past you?" And that curiosity is reasonable.

But the reason I feel so different now is because I met her.

Who is this special girl, you ask? None other than Carter. She's everything that I aspire to be. Spunky. Confident. Funny. Hot. Very hot. But most importantly, she's available and she's also a lesbian, which is... Pretty cool.

Okay, that was a joke. I mean, I have been in love with her for months now. And she really is available and a lesbian, but that's besides the point. The point is that she was the one who inspired me to be more confident.

After that one Facebook post that changed everything.
