The small bed made noises every time I turned. After yelling at my father he decided to leave to the bar again. Running away from his problems was what he did best. It was around 3 in the morning probably.
I knew I wouldn't be able to fall asleep again. I decided to go and clean. I felt like I lived alone because my father worked at a mechanics shop durning the day, and at night he drank. It was a never ending cycle.
The small trailer home was trashed. It usually was. I felt no need to clean up house, when my mind was more messed up then it. I know what today was though. My mother was coming to visit.
My mother was from a wealthy family. My father was a scumbag. She made a bad mistake. I'm that mistake. I was thrown to my fathers feet in pity to save my grandparents pride. My mother visited once a year. She was only 32 and she was beautiful. She reminded me of a goddess with her beautiful purses and she always smelt like a mix of Liliacs and another sweet smell. I loved everything about her, sometimes I wish I lived with her. Then again my life would probably would be so different. Not like that would be a bad thing but I like the silence. It comforts me like no one else does.
I threw my fathers dirty clothes into a hamper and washed the many plates in the kitchen. I washed the coffee table and the floor until they were both shiny. That's when the door was roughly pulled on. It was my father again, stumbling on the shiny floor.
"Karlie, make me a sandwich" he whispered.
"We don't have any food"
"I said make me a sandwich" he replied.
"I'm trying to tell you that we have no food!" I told him in reply to his stupid answer. Then he gagged all over the floor. At first it was a gag, then the vomit spilt all over the floor. I yelped as I jumped backwards.
"I TOLD YOU MAKE ME A SANDWICH" he yelled at me with a bottle of vodka in his hand.
"after clean this up. Ya here me. I want no excuses" I quickly ran to the stash of money I had underneath my dresser. I hid it just incase my father wouldn't spend it on liquor. I grabbed a $20 and left.
The neighborhood was large with kind people filling it. They were like a family. We weren't part of it.
I could see the McRiely's were having a party. The other neighbors were gathering around and having a bbq. I heard my name being shouted from the party. Quite unusual. I didn't look back, I didn't respond, I just kept walking with a straight face to Delia's Deli.
"Karlie wait up" I heard it was nearer, and a male voice.
"Karlie I know you can hear me" he was standing behind me.
"Hello" I turned around with the fakest smile I could cake on. It was Rob, the newest edition to the neighborhood fam. We didn't talk but sometimes when I would wait outside for my dad, he would try to join. I told him no and then I needed to be alone. He seemed like an all right kid.
"Why don't you come to the party?" he asked turning around to see the group of people.
"I wasn't invited" I said quietly.
"Well, I'm inviting you"
"Sorry, I have to go get my dad some food" I said, trying to leave this dried out and forceful conversation.
"He can come too. We have a lot of food. And I won't take no for an answer" It did sound like a better idea than wasting a $20 and my mother wasn't going to show up for another 3 hours.
"Sure" i said exhaling and walking back towards my trailer.
"I'll see you there" he shouted back to me. I smirked.
When I went into the living room, my father was passed out. I put some paper towels over the disgusting vomit and put on my nicest clothes and a fake attitude. I felt like after everything my father did, I deserved a day to let loose. I left without telling the drunken piece of a man, not like he would even care.
When I got to the party, I got no awkward looks. I got no humiliating comments about my father and no snickering jokes about my mother. Just pleasant smiles and ransoms pats on the back.
"Hey Karlie" It wasn't Rob, it was Jonas.
"Hi Jonas" I said while not maintaining eye contact.
"So what brings you here?" he asked in a curious tone, not a mean one.
"It is a party, isn't it?" I smiled. It was nice to talk to someone who was drunk or my mother.
"I didn't pin you down as partier" he said, replying with a smile back.
"I'm guessing you didn't pin me down at all" I said while turning around to go out the back.
Jonas was rich but he didn't act like it. He's friends with Rob so that's probably why he's here. His mesmerizing face which was indeed perfect decided to follow me into the backyard.
"Is Jonas Rifen following me?" I said turning back around to face him.
"Well we didn't say our goodbyes so I decided to continue the conversation"
"Oh really?"
"We'll since you do know my last name, I should be able to know yours"
"Lilicja" I responded. It was my mothers last name but I like to say its mine.
"Very beautiful"
"We'll if you liked that you should have heard my phone number" I flirted back. It was a competion almost to see who could out flirt the other.
"I would like to know it"
"Too bad" I said while walking toward Rob who was waiting for me at the swings.
"Hey"
"Hi" I responded. In seconds, our faces collided. In seconds, I felt sparks. Rob kissed me
