Year 2007
Third POV
It was December, a few days before Christmas, Hyangyu and her parents decided to move from America to South Korea because of her father's business, she just turned 8. She was young back then, so she didn't know any Korean, which resulted in her not going to school. But she liked to annoy other people so she went from house to house ringing the doorbells that she could reach. And by chance, one was quick enough answer the doors.
Jeon Jeongguk.
"Who are you?" he asked in Korean. She didn't know any Korean, so she just looked at him weirdly, and started running away. "Pardon?!" shouted Jeongguk.
"Who was that?" asked his mother. "I don't know, some weird looking girl rang the doorbell then ran away."
"It must be the neighbors, they just moved here from America." said Jeongguk's mother. "We will go welcome them later after lunch."
"That's going to be one hell of an annoying neighbor." thought Jeongguk.
Further down the street, lived Lee Eunji and Oh Kyungmi. They were cousins who lived together since Kyungmi's parents died in a plane crash few years ago. Eunji's parents were business partners with Jeongguk's parents, and because they lived in same street, they hung out a lot since Jeongguk, Eunji and Kyungmi were still young.
Jeongguk was like an older brother to Eunji and Kyungmi. He was the only one who they were nice towards to, the only one who wasn't scared of them.
Time Skip
The trio met up at their usual meet up place in the afternoon. He was telling them about his weird new neighbor, but he suddenly froze because he saw her behind them. She begun asking him questions, which Jeongguk could barely understand, because they were in English.
"Hi, what's your name?!"
"Who are this two girls?!"
"What are you all doing?!"
"Can I hang out with you three?!"
But he couldn't understand almost most of it since it was English. He only understood 'Hi', 'I', 'name'.
"What are you saying?" he asked her in Korean, which she again didn't understand so she ran away. "Mommy! I don't understand them! Tell them to speak English!" she began running towards her mother, crying, terrified. She was shocked that there was languages other than English.
Her mother was furious "How dare they!" she shouted. She came up to them, very mad. Then she started yelling at them.. in English.
"Why aren't you stupid children speaking with my daughter in English? I'm going to tell your parents you don't want to play with her! Hello?! Are you deaf?! Why aren't you replying?!" she kept shouting. Jeongguk didn't understand, but Eunji and Kyungmi were fluent in English, with British accent.
"But we didn't even get a chance to speak to her," Eunji started. "she just ran away immediately."
"If she wasn't asking so many questions and shouting at us for no certain reason, perhaps we could have said something" said Kyungmi.
"Oh great, the translators," said Hyangyu's mother "help my daughter be friends with that boy behind you two."
"Yeah yeah sure, just leave already." said Eunji. "You're making a scene, the neighbours are looking at you weirdly" added Kyungmi.
"Oh shut up! They are only looking at me because I'm so pretty and glamorous!" then she walked away with sass, you could say, swinging her hips with the butt she did not have.
"What was she saying?" asked Jeongguk, confused. "She was asking us why didn't we reply to her daughter in English, and why aren't we hanging out with her." said Kyungmi. "She also said she wanted us the 'translators' to help her be friends with you." added Eunji.
"What an idiot. Let's get this over with." was Jeongguk's response.
Then they all looked at Hyangyu, who was just innocently smiling at them.
