"Come on Sarah, you have to! You HAVE to tell Erick how you feel about him after all these years." said my best friend Cassy. I have told Cassy everything. She's my closest friend. "No, I can't." I said. "Have you not seen me when he talks to me? I lose my cool instantly." "You really need to let him know. You've had a crush on him since the second grade. Now look. This is our first day of high school and he still doesn't know! Don't you think it's time?" Cassy did prove a point. I have had a crush on him since second grade. And deep deep down there's a part of me that wants to tell him that I really like him. But, MOST part of me says that if I did, I would make a complete fool of myself. But I can't have a fixed mindset. I seriously need to let him know. "I guess you're right. I do think it's time." I tell Cassy. "I think I'm finally ready to tell him."
"Do both you and Erick have third period free?" Cassy asked me. "Yeah we do." I replied. "Perfect! During third period today you can tell Erick that you like him!" said Cassy with excitement. "Wait a minute, did you just say TODAY?!" I ask in shock. "Yeah, you're going to tell him today Sarah! I know you. Because if you don't tell him today, you're gonna keep saying that you're gonna tell him, and then you never will. So you're going to tell him that you like him today before another girl tries to put the moves on him and then steals him from you." Cassy ordered me. I couldn't believe those words came out of her mouth. Cassy is just always so full of it. I mean, I love the girl, but JEEZE, give me some space!!! "Okay, okay Cassy chill. I promise I'll tell him today." I promised.
We continued eating breakfast at my house. Then we later went outside to wait for the bus. As I felt the cold breeze rushing across my face, I thought about how high school would be like. How different would the classes be? Would people still not be acting like their age? Will people be more mature? Will Erick ever be my boyfriend? Oh my goodness, I couldn't believe that question popped into my head. I kept thinking about that question until the bus arrived a few minutes later. During the bus ride, me and Cassy were just talking. Simple conversations though, no deep, trick questions or anything like that.
The bus came to a stop in a place that haunts every kid: High School. "Are you ready for you first day?" asked Cassy. "I'm nervous." I simply said with no hesitation. "How about you? Are you ready for your first day?" I ask Cassy. "I'm nervous as well Sarah. But I'm so chill that people aren't even gonna notice!" We both laughed. Then we said "Good luck" to each other as we passed through the doors of Sunny Sites High School.
