A little back story to this prompt is Val has a four year old daughter from a short lived relationship and he has full parental rights, and is dating jenna.

VALS POV
What a night last night was. Most of the family is going to Quebec to spend the New Year together and do some skiing and snowboarding. I wish jen could be with us but unfortunately she is on tour.

Last night me and my daughter, Sydney Rae, took a red eye from LA to canada, and boy it seemed like it took for ever. We got to the ski resort around 4 am and got to our room and slept until 8:30 and then got ready to meet with everyone to hit the slopes.

"Papa are we going to the snow today."

"Yes we are syd."

See Sydney fell in love with skiing last winter when I took her out on the bunny hills, and she picked it up no problem, and has constantly asked to go skiing every single day since, so I knew she would be excited to go and try bigger slopes today.

When we got down stairs I got her dress because if I did it before she would want to go straight outside. I had her in under armors, thermal top and under wear and a fleece jacket before any of her snow-gear came on. I put her overall snow pants on and then her boots and then got my self all ready before I finished her.

While I was put my coat on I heard the inevitable, "PAPA IM HOT."

"I know just a few more minutes then we can go outside."

I put her gloves on, and then her coat, and then when we went outside I put on her helmet and goggles, and then went to pick up our skis or snowboards.

We got onto the ski lift and when we got to the top we waited for everyone. I told syd this, "Syd when we go down the slopes you have to stay near one of us at all times okay"

"okay papa."

Sydney stayed near me most of the time and towards the middle she was with Nicole and Alex. They got a little a head of us so they stopped near the flat area with about a third of the slope to go until we got to the bottom. While we we catching up to them this man came flying down the slopes looking like he never has done this in his entire life, and went plowing into the three of them, but mainly on top of Sydney. I'm not blaming either of them because everything happened so fast there want much time to react to what was happening. We raced down to Sydney and Nicole was taking her goggles off, and she was crying which I was expecting. She wasn't talking to us and we didn't know if she was hurt so the paramedics came and evaluated her to see one if she had a concussion and two to see how badly she was hurt. We went to the local ER and after three hours of waiting they told me she had two really bad breaks in her left leg and she most likely would need surgery to fix it. The doctors thought the best decision was to fly her by helicopter to a children's hospital in the states, and the one most prepared for this was Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, so they flew us to Philly were she would be getting immediate surgery.

Once we were checked in and Syd was back in surgery I texted Jen to let her know was was going on.

V: Hey baby
J: hey babe! Whats going on?
V: a lot is, and I wanted to tell you this before anyone because you're practically her mom.
J: babe you're worrying me, is everything okay with Syd.
V: no, and what I have to tell you will only give you the full story if I talk to you on the phone or on FaceTime.
J: ok just call me now and tell me whats going on with my baby.

I talked to Jen and told her everything that had happened, and she said she was going to talk to people and tell them what had happened and that she was on the next flight out to Philly as soon as the show ended.

After Sydney was in surgery and recover it was a total of two and a half hours since she went into the OR. She was passed out when I got back to see her and with a full leg cast on we were in for an adventure once we got back home.
