The beginning of the end

Chapter 2

1 year later...
Even though all of Melody's friends separated after her death.Caleb and Maddie still kept in touch.Sometimes they would hang out together as they shared similar passions and started to go to similar clubs.Its like their friendship started to grow all over again.
Caleb invited Maddie to a Riverdale fan club as they both love watching riverdale.They both have many things in common,more than the others.Soon enough they started to become best friends as they spent all their time together.

Not long later Caleb hosted a party,as his parents were out for the weekend.He invited everyone in their class which included Kyle,Mason,Layla and of course Maddie.At first Caleb thought it might be like a cute reunion but after thinking it through realistically he realised that it could be very awkward.

The house was majorly decorated by Caleb but with most of Maddie's help.Before the day of the party,Caleb's house glistened with vibrant disco lights,that reached each miserable corner.The rich food just waited impatiently,just to be consumed.Whilst the music was waiting to blast out its overwhelming melodies.

Few hours until the first guests arrive and Caleb was still in the bathroom fixing and volumising  his blonde locks,making them stand out and look impressive.Unbuttoning only his top buttons of his ironed coal black shirt,revealing his non-existent chest hair.Rolling up his sleeve revealing his tanned skin,with a hint of tense muscle.Before he could spray his fresh cologne a knock on the door was heard.
"Ugh why do people have to arrive 30 minutes early geez" said Caleb frustratedly.
He opened the door confused and before him stood a beautiful woman with emerald green eyes.Her red hair cascaded down her bare back.Whilst her tight white lace dress complemented her curves and edges.
"Maddie...you came early" said Caleb astonished.
"Well I just wanted to see how my bestie is doing before the party" said Maddie.

Caleb took Maddie on tour of his renewed house but they were quickly disturbed by another knock.Caleb quickly ran towards the door and opened the door excitedly.Seeing in front of him were two awfully similar people.It was Layla and her twin brother Mason.Both of them had royal lustrous curly black hair.However,Layla's hair was more long and accentuated her flaws on her face.Her red flowy dress complimented her red lips but also brought out her Latina roots.

Whereas Mason had freshly gelled hair which looked like he was red-carpet ready.His face was freshly shaved and smooth which made Caleb jealous.He too had an unbuttoned shirt but unlike Caleb,revealing his existing chest hair.As Mason walked in the room his strong cologne could be sensed from the furthest corners of the room making everyone cough.

Silence overtook the room as everyone was disturbed by the awkwardness.Finally Mason tried to break silence.
"So...um long time no see" Mason said awkwardly.
But before anyone could answer more people started to enter,which distracted everyone from remaining any words with each other.

So the party finally started,the music finally blasted out its melodies,making the party seem more lively.Caleb went first on the dance floor,showing of his lame dance moves,quickly followed by Maddie and Layla.The girls started to show their impressive moves which made many boys' heads turn and even a few whistles were heard.Mason was in the background looking over his sister like an overprotective parent and giving a death stare to anyone which looked at her in a way he disapproved of.

Suddenly,the music stopped and everyone stared at the opening of the door.Where Kyle walked in gracefully with no shame that he was half an hour late!

His chestnut hair was newly cut making his jawline and face more chiselled.He quickly glanced around the room with a wide smirk.
"Did you miss me!" Said Kyle laughing under his breath.
"How convenient,Kyle Lenton always being late" Maddie blurted out.
"Nice to see you too,by the way you look hot" said Kyle
"Shut up, ex boyfriend" said Maddie with a little bit of sass.
The whole crowd suddenly said "ohhhhhhhhh" whilst Kyle tried to ignore it.
Kyle took his varsity jacket off leaving only a pearl white shirt,which revealed his bulky arms carved with intense muscles.Everyone in the room stared at his perfections whilst Caleb was unconscious showing his own arms now.

The silence died down as everyone started to feel more comfortable at this party.Kyle obviously flirting with the girls but also talking with the boys about the upcoming football game.Mason was by the drink table,selfishly drinking by himself.Layla gossiped with the girls about which of the boys was the hottest(obviously Kyle).Caleb and Maddie danced so hard on the dance floor,that they even made the rest of the people at the party jealous.

Hayley Taylor,one of Layla's buddy gossiper.Joined the dance floor showing her breathtaking moves,which she had remembered from dance school.Her blonde hair bounced to the music as her body did too.Making her lips form a sultry look.As her golden dress flowed against her smooth legs,making all the boys turn their heads around.Soon enough all her friends started crowding around her and dancing with her(including Layla).

The party didn't go on for a long time though as other guests started leaving and before they knew it.Only 5 of them were left,the old friend group.All of them sat down on Caleb's huge sofa.Kyle squished between Layla and Maddie wrapping his arms around them.But they quickly shoved him away,leaving him sad and unsatisfied.

All of them sat around and reminded each other of the good old days,when they were together as a group.When Kyle told Maddie he loved her on a hiking trip right before falling into a puddle of mud face down.When Layla and Caleb pranked Mason to kiss Melody.But for revenge,when Mason was sleeping she shaved his eyebrows off.

They talked about it for what seemed like hours.Until Caleb ruined the friendly atmosphere.
"Everyone wait...today is the day.Don't you remember?" Caleb asked.
"What day?" Mason asked.
"Today is the day that one year ago..." Caleb said.
"Melody was found dead" said Layla,keeping back the tears.

No one said a word throughout the next 5 minutes.All of them started to mourn over Melody and started to remind themselves of the good days with her.It didn't take long for them to
debate over whether Melody's death was actually suicide or murder.

An unfriendly atmosphere started to dominate the room making them argue against each other.
"If she would have committed suicide she would've left a note or something.Everyone knows that for a fact" argued Maddie.
"What if she was kidnapped and murdered...I mean she had quite a few enemies" Kyle suggested.
"Or maybe she actually did commit suicide because remember what happened at prom.After that she ran out and we never saw her again" Mason suggested.
"Hmmm maybe but Melody isn't that pathetic" Caleb said.

Layla soon broke the tense atmosphere by suggesting that they should just forget about the past as they can't change anything.
"You have to deal with the fact that we won't find out anything about her death and it will probably stay as a mystery.I don't think Melody would like it if we just stayed focused on the past" Layla explained.

After hearing Layla's words everyone agreed.But forgetting about the past wasn't just an easy process.They had to cut off any memories and places that reminded them of her.

Maddie suggested that all of them should go abroad somewhere to forget about the past and focus on the present and the future.

Everyone excitedly agreed to that idea.Not long after Maddie found a resort near a beautiful lake which wasn't even that expensive.

A week has past and everyone was already packing waiting to fly of to France to the resort.

As Caleb was packing he was re-thinking Layla's words.
"What if Melody did want us to focus on the past and solve her death instead of running away and ignoring it".
