N I A L L

[ edited ]

I stood in front of my bedroom mirror, smoothing out any wrinkles I had in my school uniform shirt. It felt different to be wearing a school uniform. Back in Mullingar, at my old school, I never had to wear a uniform. We were allowed to wear whatever we wanted, as long as it wasn't too revealing. Now, here at Woodside High, I had to wear a red collared polo with the school's logo over my heart, light colored khakis, and white shoes. I was at least glad that the shoes could be any tpye as long as they were solid white, so I settle with my favorite white Supras.

"C'mon Niall! It's time to go!" My mom, Maura, shouted from the bottom of the stairs. I sighed and checked my hair one last time before heading downstairs. I decided to skip out on breakfast. My stomach was already churning with nerves and I was almost positive that if I ate something, it would just come back up. I grabbed my bag by the door and headed out to my mom's car.

...

I walked into the school and took a deep breath. There were already some kids walking around, chatting at lockers and on their phones. I had already been here before the year started for the orientation so I knew where some places were. I looked around the building a few more times, then made my way to the main office where I would be reviving my class schedule.

"Hello! You must be Niall Horan." The lady at the front desk said. I nodded. "Okay, well, I'm Mrs. Calvin. It's so good to have you here at Woodside High." I nodded again and gave Mrs. Calvin a smile. Mrs. Calvin then reached in one of her desk drawers and pulled out my schedule. I thanked her and headed out of the office.

Looking down at my schedule, I found my locker number, 17, and began the hunt in finding my locker.

It didn't take that long, and soon I began to put in my locker combination.

"18... 23... 13" I mumbled to myself as I put it in. I lifted up the latch and let out a sigh of relief when it worked on the first try. So far so good.

I didn't bring much with me today. I didn't really know what I'd need. I pulled out a green notebook and a pencil before putting my bag into my locker. I closed my locker and turned to see a boy with a large smile on his face.
I jumped, placing my hand on my chest. The boy leaning against the locker and laughed.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." The boy said, wiping tears from his eyes from laughing so much. "Anyways, I'm Louis - Louis Tomlinson - and I heard you were new here."

I nodded and smiled. "Yeah I am. I was about to start looking for my classes but I-" I stopped talking when Louis snatched my schedule out of my hands. Louis skimmed over my schedule and then randomly cheered loudly. The kids that walked passed Louis gave him dirty looks, but Louis just flipped them off.

Turning his attention back to me, Louis smiled wide. "You just got lucky Mr. No Name because we have the same schedule, well, except for last hour, but oh well!"

I let out a laugh. I didn't know Louis, but I already knew that I liked him. Louis was loud and hyper, much like myself.

"My name's Niall, Niall Horan." I said, mocking Louis. Louis have me a playful glare and shook my hand. Soon, the five minute warning bell went off and kids started separating and heading to class. Louis wrapped his arm around my shoulder and guided me to our first class. World History.

...

It was now lunch time and I was more than excited. I hadn't eaten anything today, which was partially my fault, so I was starving.

My classes weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. My first hour class was World History and it actually wasn't as boring as I thought. My teacher was Mr. Will. He was really full of energy and he made everything funny.
