Chrome's POV, Thirty minutes before Daphne has reached the death site...
I spun the wheel before me, dodging cars and vehicles. I didn't know where I was going to go. My vision was strained on one thing before me...Kaye.
There was one thing for certain.
Daphne wanted to harm Kaye.
And I seemed ignorant of it all.
I slammed a palm on the wheel, swerving past a truck.
Nathan was speeding through the highway, snaking through the hustling vehicles with his motorcycle. I almost lost sight of him. Then, the lights turn red.
I stopped my car beside his motorcycle.
He looks at me, opening his helmet cover.
"Where the heck are you going?" I asked, rolling down my window.
"Shouldn't I ask you that? Since when did you really care about her?" He asked back, revving his engine.
"I don't know," I hesitated, "Park over there." I pointed at the small bend of the sidewalk.
He shook his head.
"Come on Pierce, I may not seem like a caring person but just this once, let's find Kaye."
"Last time, she almost got raped because of you. Now you want to help?"
"I'm not going to pick a fight with you Pierce."
"Ha! How ironic," He sneered, sarcastically smiling at me, "You already did."
The lights turned green and he zoomed, disappearing ahead.
I sighed, cursing.
Then I thought of something Nathan had no idea of.
I was so dumb not to notice it.
GPS.
*****
Daphne's GPS was off.
Kaye...I don't know. She lives in a different generation. She left her phone at home.
I cursed again.
I had no choice but to go to the police headquarters.
*****
Nathan's POV
Quickly...I need to find her quickly...
I parked on the lot of the police headquarters, not even bothering to turn my engine off, running to the door.
Then, I could hear the sound of a car parking beside my motorcycle. I looked back. Chrome got out fast. He ran towards me.
We both ran inside.
"Chief!" We both said.
"What?" The man standing at the corner anwered, writing something on a clipboard.
"God, please help." Chrome says.
"I'm not God." The chief corrected, walking towards us, "What got you all so flustered?"
"Help us find her," I said.
"Kaye Green. We need to find her now." Chrome interjected.
The chief of police could sense the grief in our eyes because he had called six of his men to go into two separate cars.
"Who is she? Kaye Green?"
"Yes," we both chorused.
"Got any picture?"
I fumbled for my phone. Yet I didn't have any pic. I watched Chrome took his phone out and showed it to the chief, disappointed at myself.
He didn't even open his phone. He just pressed the on button and gave it to the chief.
He had her picture as lockscreen.
I clenched my fist. What did that even mean? Why does he have her picture as his lockscreen?
The chief nodded. "Any companion?"
"God, Daphne." I muttered, my eyes widening.
I think she's gonna hurt her sir.
Loraine's voice said in my head.
"Quickly, chief. She's in danger." I say, grabbing him by his arm.
"Why?" He asks.
"It's either she'll get injured or die."
Chrome had started for the door.
My head was pounding, my limbs were going jelly. I looked at the chief in the eyes. Pleading.
I can't lose her.
I can't let Daphne destroy another person.
I can't let her kill the baby too.
"Please...the baby..." my mouth ran off on its own and Chrome spun towards me. I covered my mouth in realization.
"What baby?" He asked.
"She's my baby." I corrected.
"Your baby?" He gravely asked, his voice getting cruel.
"Yes," I strongly replied, pushing him aside to go out the door.
"Can't you guys stop and help each other find her? She's important to both of you, isn't she? So why not work together?" The chief said.
Chrome scoffed just as I did.
"Have you guys ever thought about the car's GPS?"
I turned to look at Chrome and he was looking at me.
No. We clearly hadn't.
