Being pregnants cool and all, but being always having worry if your child's going to suddenly die inside you, or your husband gets killed on a crime spree and you're left with a child and thousands wanting you dead. Scary stuff.
Most woman don't have one child on their first time, their either still born or miscarried. Thats why our town isn't bursting with life like most, we're a dead civlization. Thats what we are. The queen might see hope in that heap of garbage but... I don't. Exile isn't even that bad. I enjoy it out here, no rules, nothing. There are no hospital's either. In or out of town. Thats why most babies don't make it, or mother's. They die, from infection or blood loss.
9 months couldn't of came quick enough, boy, the pain really smacks ya like a pipe in the gut. I was whimpering and screaming for maybe 10 hours, 11 tops. We had a baby girl, named her Emily and I'm alive. I am lucky as hell. She's so small and tiny, with fragil little hands that constantly tangle up with my hair, things were going great until Jamison got in a fight with an exiled neighbor, I had to stay behind and watch as Jamison was almost thrown of the edge.
I wait for hours, waiting to see who came out on top, scared. I hold my baby as the rain slowly begins pour down... it doesn't rain a lot, so this time...it seems a bit more dramatic as Jamison climbs back up, bloody and beaten, but alive. He kisses my forehead, holding me and Emily close, "You look like a train wreck." I smile, tears down my eyes. "I'm alive aren't I?" He says, giggling slightly. The rain cleans off the blood a bit, not much, but the droplets are okay. Emily amkes the tiny baby noise as she fiddles witha rain drop on her nose, rubbing her face and crying. She's tired so I go inside and rock her to sleep.
