changes

chapter seven

The zoo was a pretty big place for a three and a half year old.  He was so excited when he an dal walked threw the gate. Dal took pony straight to the monkey's. Then pony wanted to see the bears. They spent all day look ing at different animals. They only dtopped to have lunch before looking at some other animals.

Pony started to get a little tired so dally decided it was time to go home. Pony had fallen asleep on the bus ride home. Dally carried him all the way from the bus stop. It was only 4.00 pm in the afternoon, so darry and soda were still at work. Dally put pony on the couch.

Dall had started to drift off when darry came threw the door. It wasn't long before he was followed by the rest of the guys. Two-bit of course letting the door slam on his way in. This waking up a very sleepy ponyboy. "Sorry kiddo" two-bit spoke as pony woke up. "Don't worry about it two-bit, i was gunna have to wake him soon for dinner anyway" darry yelled from the kitchen. Pony got off the couch and made his way to darry.

It usually took a few minutes for pony to fully wake up. And he always wanted to be cuddled. Darry picked him up and gave him a cuddle. "Hey little man, how was the zoo" darry asked. "Good, i saw a bear" pony saw a lot more, but the bears gad been his favourite.  "Wow thats great kiddo,  did you say thank you to dally?" Darry said putting his little brother down so he could finish cooking dinner.

Pony ran up to dally and hugged the hood. "Thank you for my zoo dal" dal and the boys couldn't help but laugh at pony's cuteness. "Awe thats ok squirt" dal said rubbing pony's head.

At 6.30 pm soda walked in the door. Pony ran straight to him almost bowling his big brother over. Soda scooped him up and spun him around. "Ponyboy" soda chuckled. Pony had started to giggle too. Soda took pony to the bathroom and they both washed up for dinner. The whole gang stayed.

After dinner darry gave soda his bath and got him ready for bed. "Ok little buddy, what book do you want tonight" darry asked buttoning up pony's pajama top. "The zoo one" he said with a big smile. Darry took the book from the shelf. "Ok kiddo, scoot over" darry sat on the bed next to his little brother. Before he started to read, soda came in and kissed pony good night.

Darry didn't even get to finish the book. Pony was out like a light after the first three pages. 'Dally must have really worn pony out today' darry thought to himself as he tucked his baby brother in. Pony wasn't the only one worn out. Darry went back in the lounge room and found dallas fast asleep on the couch.
