A few years have past and ponyboy has just turned 10. When he was little he was the sweetest little kid. He was very well mannered and hardley ever got told off. Now that he was a little older his attitude had started to change. Whenever his brothers asked him to do something he would start an argument or do it in an unpolite manner.
Today was no exception. He had gone to the park with curly shepperd and was told to be home by 3.00pm. It was now 3.36pm and no sign of ponyboy. "Come on soda lets see if he's at the park" darry said getting up and walking out the door. When they reached the park pony was with curly and a few other greasers 'some a little older much to darry and soda's liking' they were standing around cussing and smoking. "Ponyboy michael curtis" darry yelled.
Pony dropped his smoke and turned around. He was about to run but darry already had hold of him. He through his baby brother over his shoulder and they headed home. "Right young man, what on earth has gotten into you. You use to be so sweet and now your smoking and acting like a badass" darry yelled. Darry put pony over his knee and gave him ten wacks accross his little but.
Pony started to sob. That was the first time he'd ever been smacked. Even soda had no sympathy for him this time. Darry hugged pony. "Now listen kiddo, that was the hardest thing i'll ever have to do, but your behavior lately has just gotten way out of hand. I love you ponyboy but if i ever catch you doing anything like that again you can bet i'll be just as hard on you". Pony sobbed and hugged darry back. "I'm sorry" he said through sobs. "And your grounded for two weeks and i don't want curly shepperd hanging around during that time".
Once darry and pony finished their talk, pony apologised to soda for his attitude. They all ate dinner and as part of his punishment darry made pony go to bed at 7.00pm instead of 8.00pm.
