I began to really panic when the door handle started to turn.  I could feel the person’s anger when the door didn’t budge.  I could also feel my blood pumping through my body in a burning rage.  I was so frightened, I wish I knew how I could feel his anger.  Was it his blood I felt racing through my veins or was it mine?

Their anger kept growing and I knew that something very bad was about to happen.  I screamed. “Adeline move!” When she didn’t move I added. “Now!”

Adeline quickly took a step back, but it was too late.

~~~
The door flew open before any of us could utter another word.  Its momentum so strong it ripped the hinges right off the frame, causing it to fly towards Adeline.  It hit her and took her to the floor, both her and the door slid a few back then the door settled on top of her.
“Shit!”  I exclaimed, wanting to go to her, but knew the bigger threat was right outside the room.  I didn’t think it wise to step in front of the open doorway.
I wanted a sign... noise, something to know that she was alright.
Beside me I heard Elliot take a step forward.“Elliot!”  I warned as we both heard a moan come from under the thick wooden door. ‘Thank God.’ I thought, relieved she was still alive, but didn’t dare go to her.  Elliot on the other hand looked worried and ran to her before I could tell him no.
“Elliot!” I yelled again taking a step forward and lifted my hand to try to make him see reason.  He paid no attention to me and leaned down reaching for the heavy door.
Just as he grabbed the edge of it a person came through the open doorway.  He was fast, so fast in fact that all I could see was a streak move across the room.  Straight to the kneeling Elliot.  He didn’t get a chance to look up before the person grabbed Elliot by the scruff of his shirt and lifted him off the ground, holding him at eye level.
I screamed, “No!” As I remembered Sir do the same to me whenever I made him too angry.  And it never ended well.  I was beyond worried now, for Elliot and the situation we were all now in.
The man didn’t seem to hear me or he just figured I wasn’t much of a threat.
In the background I could hear the men in the field below us yelling, demanding someone to tell them what was going on.
The man slowly brought Elliot closer to his face and I now noticed the man’s disheveled appearance. The thing that stood out the most, was his ragged, dirty, stained clothes.  As soon as I saw how dirty his clothes where, I noticed his rancid smell.  He smelled like rotten things that died years ago.  His hair looked wa oily, shoulder length, and knotted.  It was a muddy black and looked like if it were cleaned, it would naturally be a dark brown.  His bloodshot eyes shot to me, they were so red you could barely see any white.  His pupil was black and had a darker red ring on the outside edge and another red ring circling the iris.  His skin looked  pale and sickly, it was such a grey that he looked as if he were dead.  When he opened his mouth I got a glimpse of his teeth.  And, no... he didn't have two pointy teeth, they were all sharp and jagged.
I realized what he was going to do a second before he thrust out for Elliot’s neck.  Elliot moved a little at the last second and the man missed, but ended up sinking his teeth into Elliot’s shoulder. Elliot didn’t scream or yell as the teeth sank it, but he did scream when the man ripped the chunk of skin he bit into, out of Elliot’s shoulder.  I watched in horror as tears poured out of his eyes.
I couldn’t stand seeing and hearing Elliot cry out in pain, I couldn’t stand the look in his eyes.  You know the look that says, ‘I know I’m going to die and nobody can save me.’ That look.
The man spit the chunk of skin out and my eyes followed it as it bounced, splattering blood on the floor Adeline cleaned earlier that day.
My eyes shot back to the guy when I heard a hiss that seemed to be coming from deep in his throat.  He made the god awful sound, because Elliot was holding him back with a hand on his forehead and the other on his neck.
Seeing Elliot fighting back brought me out to my shocked state. quickly I grabbed the wooden sword we practiced with earlier and walked behind him.  I raised it over my head and started beating on the man’s back.  Hitting him seemed to annoy him more than hurt.
He shoved me back with the hand that wasn’t holding Elliot.  His small push caused me to stumble back a few feet.  Deciding the sward was no help I ran back up to him and jumped on his back and placed him in a headlock.  Elliot slipped his hand out from under my arm and went for his eyes.
The man jerked back and screeched when Elliot’s finger made contact with his eye, which made it easier for me to get a better hold on his neck.
He tried biting for Elliot again, but with my arm around him and Elliot’s fingers searching for his eyes, it made it impossible for him to get closer.
He hissed in annoyance and tried to buck me off of him.  I held on for as long as I could, but every time he jerked, my arm slipped a little more.  I was hanging on by just a hair when he reached over his shoulder, grabbed me by the back of my neck, and threw me across the room.  My back hit the wall first and my head followed right after then slowly slid down the wall.  Before I could register what happened I was sprawled out on the floor leaning against the cracked wall.  Blinking my eyes to get rid of the black spots that were threatening to take over my vision, I saw the man go for Elliot’s rapidly pulsing neck again.
I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get to him in time, so I did the only thing I could think of.  I screamed bloody murder.  When that didn’t distract him, I climbed to my hands and knees.  Once the spinning stopped, I lifted my hands from the floor and balanced on my knees.  I focused all my attention back on the man, I saw him lean back getting ready to strike for Elliot again.  I knew this was going to be the end for yet another person that I loved.
The last memories of my loved ones flashed through my mind.  First my mother with her blank unseeing eyes, staring at the ceiling.  My father’s headless corpse, covered in blood. My brother’s pleading eyes as the blood poured from the large open wound in his neck, Sir standing behind him with an evil grin, holding the long bloody knife that slit his throat.
Elliot’s gargled scream brought me back from the past and I was horrified by the site of the man drinking from my friend.
I extended my arm and aimed my hand at his back and screamed, “NO!”
