The rest of the car ride was completely silent. Joel didn't know how he could've been so stupid to think he shouldn't have told her, although the internal struggle was real. He knew he couldn't have just blurted out that she was pregnant right as she came to her normal self, but maybe he could've told her before she'd broken her leg? He didn't know if he'd been right and she was just overreacting, or if she was right and he was just contemplating his defeat.
He pulled up into the driveway and got out to get her wheelchair. Moriah was good at silent crying when she didn't want to show her emotions. When hed gotten her into the chair he could she'd done so along the ride. Joel hated when she was mad, not to mention at him. Joel wheeled her inside and immediately Helen and Courtney stood from the couch asking what they could do to help.
Helen spotted Moriah's splotchy face and opened her mouth to start to say something but Joel cut her off and simply mouthed 'Long story' back at her. Courtney wheeled Moriah to the guest bedroom downstairs where she'd have to camp out until her leg healed. Once they were gone, Joel started to explain what had happened to Helen.
"Well, she knows she's pregnant." Joel said, solemnly.
"Ah, so you told her! That's gre...." Joel shook his head.
"The doctors told her after they'd unexpectedly found out through a test they'd taken. She came out of the X-Ray room crying because of the Great news, and I let slip in the car that I had known already and she got really upset."
Helen was silent.
"Well, what do you think you should've done?" She asked. "What feels right?"
"I thought It would've been too quick in confessing she was pregnant as soon as she turned back from being a 3 year old! But, I guess I could've told her before she'd broken her leg. I don't know"
They sat in silence for a bit before hearing once again, another crash coming from the living room. This time followed by a crying Sydney and Luke.
Helen and Joel said in unison:
"I've got Sydney"
"I've got Luke"They walked into the living room to find Sydney on the floor with the now broken TV on top of her and Luke on the couch curled up in the fetal position bawling.
It turned out Luke and Sydney has been tossing a ball back and forth, but Luke had thrown it too high, causing the ball to hit the Tv, causing it to fall on top of Sydney. Luke was afraid of getting in trouble so that's why he had been sobbing on the couch.
Once everything had been cleaned up, they decided to put the two down for a nap, seeing as neither could hold the waterworks.
Joel started downstairs to talk to Moriah after she had had some time away from him so as to not possibly kill him after what was said in the car earlier that morning.
He walked in silently to find Moriah with her earbuds in and reading. He tapped her on the shoulder, which gut her attention like he'd hoped. At least she wasn't giving him the silent treatment like past experiences.
"Hey, can I talk to you really quick?" He asked, hesitantly.
"Yeah, I wanted to talk with you too."
"You go first" They both said in unison.
The two chuckled a bit, then Joel just started spitting everything out.
"Look, I'm sorry for not telling you about the pregnancy earlier than after the doctors had a chance. I guess I wasn't to hyped on blurting it out at you when you had JUST come back to your normal self..." Moriah cut him off.
"You were right. I was wrong in getting upset about that. I had some time to think about it and found it wouldn't have been as special anyway if you'd told me sooner and it not have been confirmed by a doctor." Moriah said with a smile.
"I mean, Imagine telling me after I'd come too, and getting to the doctor and I'd miscarried or something. Or it had just been a sudden hormone change when I'd done the personality switch and I was never pregnant. What would we have done then?"
Joel thought about this for a moment, but then simply went over and hugged his wife. "I'm just glad we're pregnant again. We get another chance. Another blessing!" Moriah said.
They shared a kiss, then Moriah decided she also would like a nap. Joel ended up deciding the same thing. So he just climbed in next to her and the fell asleep almost instantly.
Hospitals were tiring, but fights about pregnancies and the hormones included was even worse.
