It was almost 2AM and here I was standing out in the cold right outside my front door, yet I couldn't go into my own home. It would've been better if I didn't agree to date Jackson because I could have gone to his party without feeling so down about it.
Then again, I only agreed to mainly get back at the asshole who seemed head over heels for me, only after the bullshit of a drama between him and my sister. Such an incest piece of crap he is, dating both my sister and I for six whole months! If only it wasn't for Lawrence Dubois, my sister and I would've stayed neutral where she would have actually enveloped me anytime I'm in distress. But unfortunately the bond between us has been shredded by the one and only high school asshole, and because of that piece of bullshit, Aria is having a blast with her newfound authority and power.
"Hey!" I heard him call out to me, his voice loud and smooth. He stood with his door open, standing between the door and the rest of the car, with his eyes full of curiosity. "You alright?"
Just by looking at him infuriated me somehow. The cool and relaxed vibe he showed right now differed in contrast with his tempered episode from earlier in the car. It was like whatever he expressed before was quickly hidden away before he could be confronted and met with consequences, hence, leading to a much more friendlier appearance at first sight.
I nodded my head but I knew it was barely enough of a movement for a person to recognise it as an agreement. Putting full strength on my cold legs, I acted fast as I rapidly paced towards my front gate and smiled at the boy. "I'm totally fine, I gotta drop by somewhere before I go in, so goodbye?" I raised my eyebrows waiting for a mutual reply, but unfortunately he stood there for an entire minute with no reply, as though to think over my words - checking if I spoke the truth or had blurted a natural white lie.
"Okay." He nodded hesitantly and smiled back at me. "See you around... wait, what was your name?"
I rolled my eyes in emphasis as I tried not to tremble with the cold strangling every part of me. "Ava!" Unintentionally, that had come out a little hurried and loudly even though my name is already very short with only two syllables.
He raised his eyebrows at my attitude and forced a small smile. "Okay, cool. No need to be so annoyed." He mumbled something under his breath then spoke again with a genuine voice. "I'm Kian, by the way. Kian Heartly."
Blatantly ignoring him, I banged my front gate close with a loud metallic sound and looked up to the left front window on the second storey of my house. The lights were seemingly turned on and a shadow could be barely figured as it loomed over the dark curtains.
She's inside.
Aria was being an absolute dickhead today and I totally hated it.

The nearest corner shop with warmth was the one that was four roads away. It took barely 5 minutes to get there but the cold that seeped between my legs during each movement was highly tormenting me. Each step meant that the sides of my legs were exposed to more cold than the last. Within the 'journey,' I was met by two laughing men in a conversation smoking at a bus stop on the opposite pavement and an old woman walking by. It seemed like any other night, but the odd thing was that it was freaking 2-something in the morning yet it all seemed so normal.
I shook my head at the thought of anything negative. Every time something went too smoothly for me, there was always something that ruined my day, either I wait for it anxiously or let it pass without another thought.
