As Dalia closed the suite door behind her, she listened down the hall hoping to hear a sign that Elise and Albert were still talking. Aside from television noise from the rooms next door, she heard no sign of Elise.
Okay, that's odd. She thought pulling her cell phone from her back pocket. She sent a quick text.
To El:
"Hey, where did you run off to?"
She moved to put her phone back in her pocket and before she could, she was immediately met with another message.
From El:
"Hotel Bar, Arson is not here anymore."
To El:
"😱Oh Lawd! Did you kill him!? 💀"
From El:
"😈"
Dalia smiled and sent a text letting Elise know that she was on her way down.
She got to the elevator and tapped three times on the button to take her down. At least she's joking. Must have went better than I thought.
The elevator touched down on the lobby floor. Dalia could see Elise sitting at the bar ordering another drink.
*****
Dalia slid onto the stool next to Elise and intercepted the drink as it slid across the bar towards Elise. She took a sip of it. "Oh my gosh, this is fucking awful. What are you drinking?" Dalia asked, with a sour look on her face.
Elise took the drink back. "It's Jack and Coke." Elise answered, taking a drink.
"Well that explains why it tastes like crap. I thought I taught you better than to chase your drink with Coke. Pepsi is way better." Dalia joked, bumping her shoulder into Elise's.
She smiled lightly.
"Okay, soooo... Want to talk about what happened with Albert." Dalia asked, giving Elise her attention.
"Not really. Not right now. I just wanna do something to take my mind off of things." Elise answered taking another sip.
"Okay," Dalia pulled her phone out and swiped through her facebook. "There is an event at 10 tonight and its right up your alley." She said bookmarking the event and messaging the host so she can get tickets.
"What do you mean by 'right up my alley'?" Elise asked trying to see the phone screen. Dalia pulled it away. "It's an event with plenty of people and the idea of it makes me slightly uncomfortable, meaning you would love it." Dalia answered, pocketing her phone. Elise rolled her eyes, "Do I have a choice?" She asked finishing her drink. "Nope, not really. It's my birthday weekend." Dalia answered, grabbing Elise by the hand and lightly pulling. "Fine," Elise responded. She stood up leaving her unfinished drink on the bar. "Lets go."
"Wait, we can't go dressed like this. It's a themed party. We gotta wear green, red, or yellow. " Dalia said, directing them towards the elevator.
"What the fuck? That sounds like an atrocious fucking color scheme." Elise said following Dalia's lead.Dalia laughed, she realized that Elise's filter had faultered, probably due to the drinks that she'd consumed.
She felt Elise as she tugged to a stop. "Wait, I don't wanna go up there. What if Cyrus and Albert are up there? I really don't feel like hearing Cyrus apologize or having to see Albert after what I just did to him." Elise said, pulling her hand out of Dalia's."Wait," Dalia laughed "what did you do to him?"
"I just took what's mine... Everything that's mine." Elise answered, pulling his phone out of her bra.
Dalia took the phone from her hand and started laughing. "Oh shit, you're a thug."
Elise shined her nails on her shoulder. "You already know."
Dalia gave the phone back. "Okay, 'thug', since you're so down, lets go." Dalia urged her towards the elevator again.
Elise pulled away, "I'd really rather not go up there."Dalia took a second. "Wellllll, your shit is up there, soooooo... We have to go up eventually." Dalia reminded her.
Shit, she's right. Ughhh. I really don't want to risk seeing them.
"Don't trip, I'm gonna be right there with you, so there is no need to worry your little thug head about anything." Dalia added, as if she could read Elise's mind.
Fuck it.
Elise pushed the button to call the elevator. It opened up in front of them almost immediately. "Up we go." Dalia said, getting in the elevator behind Elise. She pressed the button to get to the ninth floor and just before the door closed, she realized she was closed up in an elevator with Elise again.
Shit.
