You Break Down Because of Her

"Fuck!"

There goes the picture frame. The pillows go flying across the room. Anything within reach is chucked at the wall, most breaking to pieces. I hear my phone's notification tone and fish it out of my pocket, breathing heavily and blinking tears from my eyes.

Hey babe 😊

I don't bother responding. My body feels numb and heavy now that all that is out of my system. I sit in the middle of my ransacked room, the eye of the hurricane, and pull my knees to my chest. The tears don't stop their escape down my face and I sniffle. This always happens.

Why do I always fall in love with the ones I can't have?

Camila: She texts about a hundred times before she realizes you won't answer. So she takes it upon herself to show up at your door and when she sees you, you're instantly in her arms. You don't answer when she asks what's wrong and it worries her but she doesn't push it. Her affection makes everything worse but you know she's trying to help. It's not her fault you're being torn apart by your feelings for her.

Lauren: She asks if you're okay when you don't text back right away and since she can't see you, you figure it's easy enough to lie to her. So you tell her you're fine. She goes on without any idea how much you're hurting but you get the feeling she's just avoiding the subject, figuring you'll talk about it when you're ready.

Dinah: When you don't answer, she gets worried. She tries every other form of contact, from Instagram to Facebook and everywhere in between, until she finally shows up at your door. She doesn't stop pressing the issue until you finally break and tell her everything. She feels awful about pushing you so hard but she's glad you opened up. You spend about 2 hours in her arms, her wiping your tears away and holding you tightly until you feel somewhat better.

Normani: She asks every source available if you're okay, finally learning from your neighbor that you had a breakdown and trashed the house (as they put it). She doesn't say anything when you let her in, she just gets the first aid kit and bandages any injuries you got before cleaning up your mess. You're thankful she hasn't pushed you into saying anything. But the silence is killing you.

Ally: You can't ignore her. Couldn't if you tried. She's your sunshine, even though she's one of the main causes of your pain. She senses something's wrong and shows up with movies and takeout in an attempt to make you feel better. It does but it also makes it that much worse when she cuddles up to you on the couch.
