underneath the 2nd mask

45 4 9

When anxiety takes interest in you,
It consumes you totally
It claims you and if you're not lucky,
It will suck you in it's vortex
Of despair,eternally

It rips your sanity apart
It injects your heart
With lies about yourself and about society
It always makes you feel like society is right and you are wrong
It leaves you crying every night
It steals your happiness and your confidence ,
As if all the damage it had done wasn't enough

It tells you things like
"Don't look up,they'll see your ugliness."
"You're not beautiful enough, just give up."
"Look at them, they're all judging you!"
"You're embarrassing yourself,just stop!"
It makes you feel as though all your
body parts have been glued together
And you can't speak properly
With hands shaking
And lips quivering
But if you're lucky,you'll escape
Being like this forever.

Soon, it gets bored
So it brings some friends around
Insecurity and depression.
They join the party and leave you wishing
To be nothing but perfection
They leave you glued in a corner
Afraid to come out into the light
But soaking in tears every night
Afraid of being judged, afraid of society's perception about you
After all the abuse,
You can't do anything but cry
And wish for nothing more but to die.
