“Ok Miss. Parker, I want you to tell me everything that happened on the night of April 12th 2008. Just tell me what you remember from going into the abandoned schoolhouse.”
“Oh I remember everything Professor John. These kinds of things are things that a human will never forget.
A chill took over my body as I walked down an old dark alley. Glass crunched under my feet, I cringed at the sound but kept walking. I approached the old building with broken windows and spray painted walls. The creaking of the window panes made me quiver with disgust. I had tried to find out what it was, but no one had answers. There wasn’t an address on the building or any sign of people there. The old swing set was rocking along with the wind. I entered through the back gate of the playground and the swing stopped swinging. I thought nothing of it as I entered the back doors. I heard small feet scurry across the floor.
“Rats.” I said calming myself.
I was surprised that the door was unlocked, I left it open just in case I needed a way to get out. I entered the first room. As I opened the door, light engulfed the room and I heard more scurrying. I began in. It smelled of mildew and old books. I reached over to turn on the light but it didn’t work, stupid on my part. I began wandering around the room. The chalkboard was tinted white with chalk dust. There were toys around the room as if there were kids here yesterday. I got a shiver up my arms as I exited the room. I entered what I thought was a gym. It was tall with concrete floors. This room led to another, a mostly empty room with a small fake waterfall in it. There is a chair in the room, right in front of the waterfall. I figured it was timeout or something. I walked back into the gym and noticed a sign in front of the waterfall room. Worship room it read. This was either a church with very nice classrooms in it or a Christian school. I noticed a basket on the opposite side of the gym, deflated balls. A spider crawled over them which scared me. I left the gym. I came upon the next room, I tried numerous times to open the door but it wouldn’t budge. I figured whoever left here didn’t want anyone going near this room. The next room was a library, filled with story books of all kinds. Dragons and dinosaurs, Princesses and castles, a-z books, anything you could think of, it was there. This library wasn’t an ordinary school library. There is a second story to it. The ladder was cracked and wobbly, I decided to take the stairs. The upstairs library had all kinds of books. These were adult books, ones too sophisticated for children. I went back downstairs to the desk where you’d check out your books. I opened a drawer where the money goes, there wasn’t anything there. I figured it was 10 by now and I was feeling drowsy. I decided to look in one more room to find someplace to sleep. This room was perfect. There were soft floors, and stuffed animals everywhere. I figured it was pre-school. After 2 hours of trying to sleep, I finally got the rest I needed. In the morning, sunshine flooded through the windows. I found myself snuggling with a panda bear. I looked out the window at the park. A little girl in a pink flowered dress sat on the swing staring at me. I opened the window and called for her. She had ratty hair and was torn up on her skin. I could imagine why, there were tall thorns growing in the park. She sat there silently watching me. I went through the back door to help her but she was gone, the swing still swinging.
“Little girl?” I called out, “I’m not here to hurt you, I just want to help you, come here.” She was gone. The sun was nice; it felt like I hadn’t been outside in ages. I sat on the swing and a huge storm cloud rolled in. It started pouring rain on me. I went inside and tried to dry off. There was much more to explore, but I was very hungry. I made my way back to the room I had slept in to find my bag. I had packed crackers, chex mix, juice boxes and candy for my trip here. I started to walk around the classroom I was in. All of the sudden I heard a loud crunch, it was just a cracker I had dropped on the floor and stepped on. I kept walking around and I found a classroom yearbook.
