Heel. Toe. Left. Right.

I tried to stay calm but nervous chills kept sliding down my back. This was the 5th time in the last year I had switched schools, and I wasn't very excited. I'm originally from New York, born and raised but ever since my mom died, dad has had a lot of trouble finding good work.

"Jonah why are you taking so long?" I asked my brother when I realized he wasn't walking near me.

He was still standing by the side of the road where our dad had dropped us off. he had his eyes glued to his phone screen.

"Screw off Lexi." He snapped at me as he ran past me ramming into my shoulder.

"Ow!" I yelled back at him as I watched him storm inside the school.

My brother is way more effected by this than I am. He's 2 years younger than me, but way smarter. Ever since mom died he's been slacking off. He used to be such a cheery little fun loving boy, but now he's so mad all the time. I mean, of course I'm still upset. But I try not to think about it.

Every place I had been to the people were the same, stuck up and rude. I made a vow to myself, I wasn't gonna let anyone stab me in my back or get too close to me, it's not like I was gonna be here long anyways.

I put my first foot inside my new highschool, it was so small.

My dad told me only about 500 people go here. I've always gone to huge schools where 600 people would all be in my class. I looked down at the registration papers I had gotten from the office yesterday.

"Locker 243" I said to myself. I had no clue where that was. There had to be some kind of junior hallway here. I walked down the hallway and watched as groups of people past by me, staring at me like I was a rabid wildebeest. I gulped down my insecurity and continued on trying to ignore them.

"Locker 134." I mouthed to myself, reading the numbers as I walked by.

"133. 132. 131." I stopped in place.

"Fuck I'm going the wrong way." I sighed and turned around really fast.

Just then I slammed face first into a person in front of me. Both of our stuff sprawled everywhere, raining onto the ground.

"I'm so sorry." I said reaching down to start picking stuff up. I didn't look up to see who it was, but they crouched down next to me to help pick stuff up.

"You're fine." A deep voice said, followed by a giggle. I looked up and saw these gorgeous green-blue eyes staring back at me.
