Chapter one

-

Looking at him made me feel like I was in paradise, I had never felt such a strong connection before by just looking at someone. The way his lips curled as he smiled made me melt. I watched him in awe as he continued to pick up the rest of his stuff. I realized how creepy I must look by staring at him like that, so I snapped out of it and stood up.

"Are you new here?" He asked me as he lifted himself off the ground, with all his books in his left hand.

"Yeah," I started. "How can you tell "

His smile immediately grew and he started laughing.

"I know everyone here it's a small school." I started blushing and felt so embarrassed.

"Well I'll see you around." He said breaking the awkward tension between us.

As I watched him walk away I let out a huge sigh of relief, which was followed by a huge chill of embarrassment. I can't believe how nervous I acted when I was talking to him.

I turned and started walking down the hallway to find my locker, the entire walk there I just kept reminding myself of how stupid I was and how much I hated being me. If a cute guy talks to you, you talk back. You don't act like you don't know English.

I tried recollecting whatever pride I had left, and continued walking.

"240. 241. 242." I said to myself. "243!" Finally I found it. The lockers are all different colors repeating a pattern. It starts with blue, then gold, then black. Those are the schools team colors and I guess it's a way of representing the school, I'm not really into sports. As I put all of my books and my bag in my new locker I couldn't help but think about Jonah.

He was the best basketball player in his age league before mom died, now he refuses to even look at a ball. It's such a shame, because he honestly was the best kid I knew at it. I know nothing about the sport, but what I do know is he loved it and was amazing.

I pulled my schedule out of my pocket and started to study it.

First period I had chemistry. Now the hard part, is finding it without getting lost. This was a super small school, but I still had no idea where I was going.

The bell rang indicating we had five minutes left before we would be late.

"Fuck." I said to myself as I slammed my locker shut.

I looked up at a door near me to see what number it was.

"103." That would be my English class, well at least I know where that is now. But chemistry was on the completely opposite side of the school, room 513. I didn't want to run down the halls because people would think I'm weird, but I needed to hurry.
