Chapter four

-

The rest of the class I tried to stay hidden, not answer any questions or get up because I didn't want anyone to say anything to me. I was still in shook over dillon saying that to me. I actually thought he'd be a good guy, but it just goes to show you can't trust anyone. I have to keep reminding myself, I'll be gone soon. It won't matter what any of these people think. It still hurts though. The final bell rung to release us from school. I wasn't sure where Jonah's locker was because he ran away from me so fast, but I was guessing he'd take no time here and just rush out to dad's car. I really needed to get my license, I get it on Jan 16th, my 17th birthday, which was also exactly a month away from tomorrow.

I quickly grabbed my bag from my locker and slammed it shut. This was probably one of the worst first day of a new school I've ever had and I couldn't wait to get home. I sped out of the school and searched for my dad's black Subaru.

"He better not be late." I whispered to myself. I just couldn't stand being here any longer than I had to. I stood on the top of the steps leading up to the school, still scanning the area for my dad and also my brother who seemed to be missing. I tried distracting myself but I still just couldn't get my mind off of Dillon. Maybe he was just trying to impress his friends or something. Then again, I am a loser. I've never been a cool girl. I'm not pretty or skinny enough, I've just always been that smart quiet girl everyone ignored. I like being solitaire. Just then I saw my dad's car pull up and I hurried to get in. Luckily my brother wasn't here or we'd have to fight over who gets shotgun, but I was also really worried.

"Where's Jonah?" My dad asked concerned.

"I have no idea." I said as I got in the car and shut the door. We both looked to the from doors but there was no sign of him.

"Maybe he walked?" I took a guess.

"We just moved in yesterday," my dad said, "I doubt he knows how to get home."

"I don't know dad," I said trying to convince him to leave, "he's pretty smart." My dad sighed and started the car again.

"Yeah I just wish he'd try more often."

When I got home I ran immediately up to my new room. It was pretty big, compared to the other rooms I've had. The only things I have set up were my bed and tv, the rest was still in boxes. I didn't even want to bother unpacking because I knew we were going to end up leaving in a month or two anyways. I was so ready to leave, I hated this small crappy town already.
