Monday Mayhem

Mondays suck.

They're usually the worst days of the week. I mean, the weekend's over, you have to come to school and deal with all the drama of stupid high school. It just sucks. It drives me crazy sometimes...

I trudged out of the bus and joined the throng now walking towards the hallway. The seniors with the cool flashy cars had parked in the driveway, and now the teacher's were yelling at them to move their junk cause they'd hogged the entire driveway. People were giving some serious PDA actions but everyone just ignored them. I shivered in disgust and rolled my eyes in annoyance. Why couldn't some people just get a room?

"Mel!" I heard someone calling and searched around the crowded parking lot. "Over here!"

I looked to see the person calling and my heart bounced and then broke. It was Aaron, getting out of a very expensive looking car, and waving at m with a really wide smile on his face. I saw someone get out from the passenger seat, a girl with crazy dyed red hair, looking....somewhat pissed.

Despite this, I smiled back and waved at Aaron. "Hi," I told him as he approached taking long, quick strides, "What's up?"

I hadn't seen him since the night of the dinner party. After I'd gotten out of the bathroom, we- me, him and my brother- had talked for a while about nothing in particular. We had done some catching up and he'd told me a lot about his business.

"It's okay," he'd shrugged when I'd asked him what it felt like to be a hot teenage billionaire (only I'd left out the hot part), "It get's annoying sometimes, cause people tend to ask for a lot of favours. Not that I mind so much, doing favours, but not if you keep coming back for more and I don't see anyway the favour's actually helping improve yourself in life. And it's hard to know who your real friends are." Then he'd looked me straight in the eyes, sending massive shivers down my spine and asked, "Are you my real friend, Mel?" with utmost seriousness.

At that point I'd gotten tongue-tied and gave a little croak. Thank God, somebody had come to tell me that my mom was looking for me or I would have melted right on the spot. I'd said a quick good bye to Aaron, grabbed Junior and hurried away.

And now, he was standing here in front of me, looking delicious in a casual button down shirt- shortsleeve- and some long slacks. As he apporached me, I realized how tall he was. I'd always assumed he'd seemed so tall because I was really short, but he was taller than most of the people he'd passed on the way to me. He was probably 6'1 or something and I was 5'5. Coolio.

"Ah, not much," he said still smiling. He was silent for a while, just staring at me with those intense blue eyes. My face got hot and I knew if I had a lighter skin tone, I'd be blushing worth a damn. Why the heck was he staring?

I looked aside just in time to see the red-head walking past in a huff. I didn't miss the glare she threw at Aaron.

"What's up with her?" I inquired, and Aaron glanced at her retreating back.

"Oh, we just had a little disagreement," he dismissed, "Hey, you never did answer my question."

"Hm?" I said.

He put his hands in his pocket sheepishly. "You know, the one I asked you on Friday." He looked aside and I could see him chewing his lip.

Oh man! I tucked a curl behind my ear and shrugged at an attempt for non-chalance. "Um Yeah, " I smiled a little, "We're friends."

He looked back at me and something flashed in his eys, something like hurt. I recoiled, a bit confused as he gave me a sad smile. I looked away, and chewed n my lip. When I looked back, a bright smile was on his face as his eyes twinkled at me.
