Children Of The Moon

Chapt.4 - Back at Base part.2

The boy and I walked right in, I forcefully closed the door. We do that to be sure the new ones, or the animals don't even think about running away.
As the boy, Gache came into the bright torch light of the entrance room, Star and Jaki were entering from the hallway. "Hey Seth, back from trav- oh, what's his name?"
"G-" The boy cut me off right as I was saying his name.
"My name is Gache, pleasure to meet you all in, whatever this place is."
"This place is going to be your home now, also known as "The Base". You're going to need a while to get used to this arn't ch'ya?"
Gache whispered in my ear, "Who are they?" I whispered back, "That one, is Star, and the one who has the higher pitched voice, that's Jaki."
"They're nice." He whispered.
Suddenly there was scratching on the heavy door. "I got this hold on." I walked three feet before Gache was pulling on my coat saying, "Wait... hold the horses, I think I know who's there..."
"Really, who."
He pointed to the door, meaning for me to open it. I did, and sitting there was a little red fox. Gache bent over and tilted his head. The little fox ran to him and jumped in his lap. Gache fell back after the strong leap. As he stood he and I noticed the girls where confused when they saw him pet the fox as he stood.
"Oh, girls, this is Tede my pet Fox. I've had him since he was a pup."
"Really, how long?"
"About ten years."
"He's ten? Wow..."
"Actually ten and three months."
He had just impressed Star with his fox. Jaki looked bored, but I knew she was also impressed. "Who are you guys anyway?"
"You haven't told him? Seth!"
I sighed then started to answer both questions, Jaki's first, "No I haven't..."
"Haven't told me what?"
"You are now a child of the moon."
"Really, wow!"
"You've heared of them too? And I'm surprised you didn't pass out like I did."
After a long chat, showing him his room, and dinner, he and I were having some "bro time".
"So, do you have anyone "special"?"
"Well, Seth, I was gonna ask you the same thing. Except I was gonna ask, 'Are you and Star a "thing"?' You guys seemed strange earlier."
"Me? Pfft! No, I- uh we- I mean--"
"I know when someone's trying to hide something, and you..." He chuckled a little, then continued "you've got it bad!"
"What?"
Now all he was doing was laughing, I thought for a moment he was insane. After he stopped, he said "We should get to bed."
"Yeah, it's late." And we fell asleep in our beds. It was a peaceful sleep, and I liked it.
