Dani's POV
June 17th 2014
After a long flight and a lot of car journeys we finally pulled up to a medium sized house on the beach in Portsmouth. "This is where you live?" I said shocked to Aunt Julie. She replied "Sure is. Why?" I just answered with "because it's actually ON the beach..."
I grabbed my bag and walked in to the house, it was welcoming and beautiful. My Aunt showed me to my room so I could get unpacked. I had quite a large bedroom but the moving truck with all my stuff hadn't actually arrived yet so I figured maybe I'll just take a walk.
I grabbed a beige sweater (which is much to big for me) and put it on. I put some brown ankle boots on with some light blue skinny jeans and then I ran downstairs.
"Julie, I'm going to look around, don't wait up for me, k? See you later" I walked out of the door before she had the chance to respond. I'm really not in the mood for arguments right now.
When I walked out of the house my feet were greeted by golden sand and I could see the sea which was only about 30 meters away from me. Maybe this place isn't so bad.
I walked along the beach for a while until I came across a fair, I hesitantly went through the entrance... Yep, just as I thought, laughs, smiles, and joy everywhere. It's disgusting.
A lot of girls were looking at me like a piece of gum on their shoe or something, probably because I was actually wearing clothes unlike them. I mean it's 8:30 in the evening I'm sure there's no need to walk around in a bikini anymore! Ergh whatever, just ignore them Dani.
I went to the food stand to get a drink, "can of lemonade please" I said to the woman behind the counter without bothering to smile, I handed her the money and turned back around.
I began to walk again when all of a sudden a football came flying towards my drink causing it to spill all over my sweater! I looked up angrily to see a brown haired, brown eyed "pretty boy" (without a shirt on may I add) laughing uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry" he said still laughing.
"Yeah. You really look it." I said sarcastically. "Are you American?" He asked. I narrowed my eyes and pulled in my lips "Canadian, actually." I replied, clearly uninterested in carrying on this conversation any further. He nodded in understanding "oh, cool" he responded. I noticed that he had an accent as well but I wasn't going to ask him where he was from since I didn't intend on talking to him any longer.
I wiped my sweater with my hands and began to walk away when I felt a hand grab my arm. I turned around to see the guy who made me spill my drink,
"Seriously I'm really sorry, let me buy you a new drink and jumper?" He said while smiling.
"Thanks, but I don't need you to buy me new things." I said while narrowing my eyes and removing his hand from my arm.
"It was an accident. Come on let me make it up to you?" He begged.
"Look, I'm really not in the mood to have some player hitting on me, so if you could just leave me alone that'd be great." I replied angrily.
"Ok, ok, honestly though, I'm really sorry. I'm Michael by the way." He put his hand out for me to shake it but I simply ignored it and said "Are we done here?"
He dropped his hand and sighed while nodding his head. "Great" I whispered as I turned to walk away.
I walked away from the fair and went to a quieter part of the beach. It was dark by now so there weren't many people around. I sat a couple yards away from the ocean, just watching the moonlight bounce off of the water. It was a great place to think. I thought about my Mom, I miss her so much. I looked up at the sky, there were two really bright stars shining, I know they're my Mom and Dad. I know they're watching over me, and they always will be. I sure wish they were here though, I thought as a tear rolled down my cheek.
I heard someone talk behind me "So, are you like a loner or something?" I turned my head to see the boy from earlier, 'Michael' I think his name was, looking at me. I quickly wiped away the tears and smartly replied with "So, are you like a stalker or something?"
He laughed "No, I just happened to have seen you while I was walking along the beach. What's so bad about that?"
I rolled my eyes "Whatever." I said while standing up and walking to the direction of Aunt Julie's house.
I could just about see the house but my view was blocked by 'Michael' jumping in front of me. "So what are you doing here? In Portsmouth I mean. Like how come you're not in Amer- Canada?"
I sighed and quietly said "Not that it's any of your business but I just moved here today, I live here with my Aunt... Anyway I have to go now." I tried to walk away again but he stopped me AGAIN.
"Well I guess I'll see you around then?"
"Uh, yeah I'll see ya round." I said while giving an awkward smile.
"Wait, I never got your name..."
"Dani." I had to raise my voice since we were quite far away now.
"Hope to see you soon Dani." He grinned.
I ignored him and continued to walk back to the house. I walked through the door trying not to make a noise, I walked to the kitchen and turned on the light. I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw Aunt Julie sat at the table. "Oh my god, you almost gave me a heart attack!"
"Where have you been? It's past 12 o'clock Dani." she said ignoring what I'd just said.
I rolled my eyes "Out." I said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
There was awkward silence until I interrupted it, "anyway, I said not to wait up for me. I'm not a kid anymore. I'm 17, I can take care of myself."
"I wasn't worried about you when you were a kid..." She whispered.
"Whatever, I'm going to bed." I said as I began walking to my bedroom. When I opened my bedroom door all I saw was boxes. The moving truck must've come already. I found the box with my pyjamas in and put them on, I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth, when I was done I found the box labeled "memories", I took out a picture of me, my Mom and my Dad all laughing at each other, I smiled at the memory and put the frame on the table by my bed.
I then got in to bed and wondered what tomorrow's events would be. The way things happened today certainly weren't very me. I'm normally polite and smily, but I simply don't have to energy anymore. I guess being rude and shutting everyone out had become the new Dani.
