"hey eden." luke said, freely walking inside my house whilst grabbing an apple out of the weaved basket on the kitchen counter. i rolled my eyes and walked over to him, sitting as he ate and watched Spongebob in the living room. my eyes latched onto him as i aimlessly watched his jawline tense as he chewed.

"what?" he asked with a mouth full of fruit as he caught me staring. i shook my head and my cheeks burned with embarrassment.

luke and i were best friends since we were eight, and i couldn't imagine life without him. he'd do anything for me, and i'd do anything for him. let's just say he was like a brother to me- as it explains how he openly enters my house without knocking nor taking his shoes off.

"shoes." i said plainly and he groaned, using his left foot to help take off his right shoe. he kicked them across the room, and continued watching the children's show.

once it went on a short break, he decided to speak.

"where's edith?" he asked, referring to my mother.

"work." i said, and his head fell back on the couch. he looked over to me and smiled, constantly poking my side. i whimpered and shoved his hand down, getting annoyed at the painful feeling of his finger sticking my ribs.

"oi, we should have a party and invite the guys." he suggested, and i immediately denied.

"do you know how much trouble we'd get into?" i asked with wide eyes, exaggerating the situation. we wouldn't get into that much trouble, but still, i wasn't the party type and i wasn't gonna risk throwing one for obnoxious teen boys to trash my house.

"you've turned into a buzz kill lately." he groaned, taking small nibbles out of the apple core. i repeatedly called his name, but he ignored me- wanting to get his way one or another. of course i'd give in; luke is always like this, he'd pretend he's mad at you until he gets what he wants.

"ugh, fine." i whispered, and his eyebrow raised.

"what? i can't hear you." he teased, and I didn't even bother repeating myself. i stood and walked over to the end table, pulling out the drawer that contained papers and flyers. i fished around inside, and pulled out my mother's planner.

"what's that for?" luke asked, straining his neck so he could watch what i was doing.

"my mom puts her work dates and times in here. so when i throw the party i'll know when, and how long it will be." i explained, and he clapped.

"you're so smart. that's why I love you."

i grinned at him before skimming through the small notebook, finding the perfect time on a friday. to my relief, she had a night shift that lasted from nine pm to eleven am. she worked at this specific guy's house that allowed her to randomly 'sleep over.'

"oh shit, eden, what about tilly?" luke asked, and i let out a long groan, completely forgetting about her. tilly was my twelve year old sister, and she was a complete snitch. i remember the time i had a guy over, and she actually called my mother just to inform her.

"i'll take care of that." i said, pushing the problem away with an idea in mind. ;uke stood and walked beside me, taking the notebook out of my grip. he placed it back in the drawer and shut it, turning me around and leading me back over to the couch.

"you're doing too much, just buy pizza and soda then the party's set." he proclaimed with his hands behind his head.

"okay. who's gonna come?." o asked, though he silently chuckled.

"leave it to me."
