It's sad how quickly something can fall apart. From a humans mind, to the very buildings they construct with the thoughts that they would last forever.
Kihyun was asleep. Hyunwoo was sat on his chair, eyes closed and listening closely. If he tried hard enough, maybe he could catch the mumbled shouts. He had locked the door. It was no use to go back outside, anyway.
He wanted to stay here with Kihyun even though he didn't remember. There was no way for him to, not anymore. The light flicked off for a long moment before coming back on, the naked bulb swaying in the slightest.
Not much longer.
Hyunwoo wished they hadn't chosen this. It would've saved so much heart ache, and suffering for both himself and Kihyun, as he lays on his side fast asleep, restrained to a room, thin and pale as the days had drawn out into weeks.
Hyunwoo let his gaze fall.
He missed Kihyun.
His Kihyun.

There was only one way.
Hyunwoo hoped it would work, but this was it. The last thing they could try. And he had to. Hyunwoo didn't want to go another day, seeing Kihyun do this to himself. Not drink or eat, or even sleep. It was driving him crazy.
Hyunwoo thought he found an answer.
It took a long time to get verified and allowed to the facility, protectively holding Kihyun. He lost his usual fire weeks go, and how Hyunwoo missed it.
Kihyun lays his head on Hyunwoos shoulder, almost lulling off to sleep as the elevator went up.
There was an experiment. It was still in testing, and they weren't sure it worked, but the results had at least been showing to be somewhat positive. It was better than anything else.
This new brain disease sprung up hardly a year ago, taking hold of the host and just deteriorating them slowly. Twisting them. Ruining them. Or at least that was all that was released to the public as cases grew. The research being done here had a solution.
The side effect of it, though, was something little to no people would want to risk.
But here Hyunwoo was, holding Kihyuns hand as he was instructed to lay down on his left so that the anesthesia could start to kick in.
Kihyun tiredly reached up to touch Hyunwoo's face, and smiled. "Listen, Sohn Hyunwoo," he spoke, trying to get what he wanted to say out before he went to sleep. "I love you. I'll remember that. I know I will. And if I don't, I know you'll remind me of it in no time. If this works we can be happy again. Promise."
Hyunwoo tried so hard to keep himself from crying, and was amazed at his own effort.
"I promise. I'll see you in a little bit, okay? I love you so, so much Kihyun." He reached up to hold Kihyuns hand that was on the side of his face, bringing the hand over to kiss it tenderly.
Kihyun tried to keep his eyes open for as long as possible, but eventually they drifted closed, and his hand fell slack in Hyunwoos.

It was hours of waiting. Sitting in the hall, watching blurred shapes of people go by, some walking, some rushing.
Hyunwoo had hours to think, to cry. And he did just that, though try as he might to not. Silently, with his face in his hands, trying to not make a single sound as the useless hot tears fell. Kihyun. He just wanted Kihyun.
