Paris couldn't recognize him from behind, so she kept on staring at the boy's figure.
The boy took the book and placed it into one of the shelves, smiling to himself.
He turned to Paris direction and he caught her staring.
Paris immediately diverted her eyes away and hide behind her book. Hoping that the boy didn't notice her staring earlier.
Just when she was drowning in the story again, a voice interrupted.
"Can I sit here?"
Paris looked up from the book she currently reading, only to meet a pair of beautiful soft brown eyes and maybe the most sincere smile she had ever seen. His short black bangs were parted like a comma style and she noticed the attractive eye-smile the boy has.
Who is this boy?
They didn't know each other, and the way the boy just asked her, Paris guessed that the boy is an extroverted one.
"Yes," she shrugged.
He sat.
They sat on the same table.
There was a moment of silence when they were reading their own books.
"I'm Roy," The boy said suddenly, distracting her from her novel once again.
Oh okay?
"Paris." she smiled even though she was confused, then she was back at her book.
"Oh! that's a unique name. I never know any Paris in this school beside you. So that means you are the only Paris! Well beside Paris, France, of course. That's a romantic name too, you know. Well, of course you know because you are the one who has that name," he talked non-stop and laughed by himself.
"Yes," her eyebrows slightly frowned, Roy sure talks much.
"You look quiet."
Paris glanced at him.
I am indeed quiet. Does this boy now want to mock me for being quiet?
"I heard that you've been always alone,"
Now he wants to mock me because I don't have any friends?
Paris thought that maybe he was different, but he wasn't. He believed the rumors he heard.
Paris gave the boy a small smile and shrugged. She wasn't in the mood to put her mask on. She got up from her seat and got ready to leave.
"Wait!" Roy caught her wrist. Paris flinched when their skin touched.
His grip was warm and their eyes met.
What a rude boy with a weird way of talking, what a waste of handsome face. Those thoughts rushed through her mind.
He didn't let go when Paris tried to yank it away.
"I didn't mean to be rude. I-I will be your friend! Well, let me be your first friend. Or maybe second or third-"
"What?" Paris cut his sentence. She frowned at the word 'first friend', the word sounded like as if she didn't have any friend before.
Roy understood the look on Paris's face, "Shoot. No-"
Paris sighed. He said sorry but still didn't let go of her hand.
"But still, let's be friends! Let's try to be friends first and if don't like me being your friend, then you can tell me to leave." he offered.
"A month? two months?" he asked.
She almost said yes. But she remembered what usually happens when someone tries to be her friend. They were either wanted to be popular or wanted to get something from her.
Paris pulled her hand softly. She crossed her arms while her eyes still maintained the eye contact.
"No, thanks."
This boy confused her. Why does he suddenly want to be friends with her? Paris could't help but held a suspicion towards him.
There must be something bad he was planning, she thought.
"I like being alone," she added.
Roy's grip on her hand loosen. She took the advantage of it and pulled her hand away from him. Before Roy could stop her, she went to the library door.
Leaving the boy confused.
