I just finished reading the book today. I loved it. I've also seen the movie and loved that. Each is unique and fantastic in its own way. The easiest way to do this is probably just a list, so here we go. SPOILERS BTW
Things I liked about the movie:
*i love Eva Green as Miss Peregrine. Even while I was reading, she was who I imagined
*movie Enoch was different from his book character, but he's cute so I'll forgive it
*it brought the children's home to life
*i personally thought the slender-esque look of the hollows made them look even more terrifying than the book
*Sam L. Jackson as Barron/Golan was just funny
*Abe was a badass
*Claire and the twins were a1
*Horace was well portrayed too
*Bronwyn as a little girl was adorable
Things I dislike about the movie:
*Emma and Olive were COMPLETELY different! They basically swapped peculiarities.
*age differences. What was the point of making some characters younger or older than in the book?
*Jake didn't have his sarcasm and cynical nature
*why wasn't Martin in it
*why wasn't the Old Man in it?!
*why did they make Golan a woman??
*Jake wasn't constantly trying to be fired
*also he wasn't rich
*WHERE IS RICKY
*Raid the Village was missing
*no lighthouse
*miss Avocet frickin died
*Golan should've been using a gun
*also should've been killed by Jake and not a hollow
*the EnochxOlive thing was dumb. The only romance in the book was JakexEmma
Overall, the movie did a pretty good job. I still love it. Some of the things the movie did were very cool but not in the book, like raising the sunken boat and fighting the hollows with snow and candy and skeletons. It's like any book to movie adaptation. Some things were changed or added or taken out simply to help make it better as a movie. It should still be something that the book fans can still enjoy. I know I still can. It certainly isn't as bad as others *cough*ScorchTrials*cough*.
And that's pretty much the sum of it. I'm excited to read the second book, and I'm hoping that it becomes a movie as well.
