"But I don't see why not!" I said, throwing my hands in the air. "I have been to plenty of parties before and my dad was absolutely fine with it!"
"Well we're not you dad, but we are in charge now and we all agree that you shouldn't go." Matt said. Olly, Brandon, Ryan, and Aaron nodding along with him.
"Why though? It's not a school night and we aren't doing anything tonight or tomorrow so it shouldn't matter whether I go or not."
"Look we're..." Matt paused. "We aren't quite... comfortable with you going anywhere quite yet. We aren't settled enough in yet."
"Yeah... Ok, sure," I say as I turn on my heel and head up the stairs to my room.

What they can't tell her is that not only do they have to keep an eye on her. But they caught wind of a possible threat rising against her.

It didn't make any sense. I was mature seventeen-year-old girl, perfectly capable of making my own decisions. Hell, I practically lived on my own most of the time while my father was out on work trips.
They were right, they were the ones in charge now...
No. No, I had already said that I was going and I couldn't, very well, let Hazel go alone. Something could happen. She could get hurt. I had to be there to make sure that she was ok. That's it. My mind is made up. I am going.
---
Hours later I stood in my bathroom and checked myself out in the mirror. I was wearing a pinkish-burgundy tank top with black tights and a flowy black shawl. To top it off I threw on a pair of black wedges. I sighed. The boys were going to be mad if they found out that I went to the party after they explicitly told me that I wasn't allowed to. I was going for Hazel, I told myself. Not because of my need to prove that I was independent. Absolutely not because of that...
Sighing I shook my head, turned on my heel and strode for my bedroom window. I had planned on meeting Hazel around the corner. My phone vibrated. Looking down I noted a text from Hazel notifying me that she had arrived and was waiting for me.
Shaking my head I pushed open my window and climbed out.
As quietly as I could I scaled down the side of the house and made my way down the street to where Hazel had parked her car.
"Hey girl. You look hot." She said by way of greeting as I climbed into the passenger side of her car. "What I don't get, though, is why you had to sneak out. I thought that you said that they would be fine with it?"
"I thought that they would be." I sighed and Hazel started the car. I honesty still didn't see why they didn't want me to go. Why should I care if they weren't settled in enough? The more I thought about it the more a heat started to build in my chest. The more I realized how pissed off these boys made me. Especially when they seemed to take over the roll as my dad. I wanted to growl.
Instead, I took a deep breath, counted to ten, and then released it. When I opened my eyes again it wasn't hard to miss the monstrosity that was Max's house. By the time Hazel parked the car the party was already in full swing. There were cars lining both sides of the street, people were littered over his lawn, some obviously already drunk.
This was going to be an interesting night.
