Chapter Twenty-Five

After clearing everyone out of the condo I sat in the living room with Chase. He sat quietly on the couch, not saying a word. I could tell he had a lot on his mind by the look on his face. He looked pissed off, sad, hurt. Too many emotions crossed over his face to really tell exactly what he was feeling. The condo was quiet. The only people who were still here was Chase and myself, and the four girls who were currently in with Hailey who had woken up but was very groggy. Chase had wanted to take her to the hospital to check to see if she had any head damage, but Hailey insisted staying at home for the night and seeing how she felt in the morning. Chase agreed and left the room as Hailey laid back down. My train of thought was broken when Taylor and Sienna walked into the living room. Taylor went and sat beside Chase placing her hand on his knee softly. Chase stood up quickly and started pacing around the room, running his hand through his hair.
"Babe, everything's going to be okay... just sit down and relax ok?" Taylor said from her place on the couch. Chase stopped in his tracks and kept his head down. A moment passed before he let out a small chuckle looking up at her. A look of anger crossed over his face. Shit this was not going to be good. He only had that look when he was super pissed off. And most of the time chase is a level-headed dude. I glanced over to Sienna giving her a confused look before I looked back at the others.
"I told you that you have nothing to worry about Chase, just forget about it!" Taylor said standing up from the couch and started to walk over to chase who was now pacing back and forth around the room again. When she reached out to take his arm, he pulled it away from her and took a step back.
"Don't touch me right now Taylor" Chase snapped back at her and started walking away. Taylor looked shocked, she looked to me for help, but I did nothing. There was something else here that I didn't know about and I wasn't about to get in the middle of it all. This was not my business.

"No! Maybe if I hadn't had to have kept my eyes on you all night after seeing you and him together I could have been watching Hailey like I was supposed to be doing. But no, I had to watch your every move because you don't know how to keep your tongue out of Matt Denver's mouth! And just to think, I was ready to tell you that I'm in love with you tonight. But fuck that, I'm done Taylor. You can show yourself out" Chase yelled, before walking down the hallway to his room and slamming the door shut. I watched as a tear dripped down Taylors face and onto the hardwood floor. She turned to look at Sienna and me. My heart hurt, not for Taylor. But for Chase, first his dad cheated on his mom, and now this. I couldn't even imagine what he was going through right now, especially with Hailey not doing well either.
"I think we should go Tay... Lets gets you home ok?" Sienna spoke up now, moving to her best friend standing in the living room not moving. Tears free flowing down her face now, sienna took Taylor in her arms and started walking slowly to the door. Before getting there, she looked over her shoulders mouthing the words that she'll call me later and wished me good luck with a wink at the end. Once the two girls left I sat in silence. My mind was blank, I didn't even know what to think about right now. There was so many different possibilities that could happen tomorrow, but I decided to start cleaning for now. Make the job in the morning easier for everyone. Luckily the people we had over weren't the biggest assholes and respected chase and I enough to not destroy the place. It was mostly empties and a few spills here and there. I had most of it cleaned up within 30 minutes.
I took the time now to go check on Chase, I figured he had some time to cool down. Walking down the hall I couldn't hear anything coming from his room. I knocked twice and didn't hear a reply. Opening the door, I could see that his light was off, I could see his dark silhouette over by the floor to ceiling window, the natural moonlight shining in around his body.

"Hey man... you good?" I said from the doorway. I knew he wasn't ok, but I also knew that Chase wasn't one to talk about his feelings a lot. He held everything in until he exploded, which is what happened earlier with Taylor.
"Have you ever been in love?" chase asked, not turning away from the window. Still staring out like he was searching for something in the night sky.
"No" I lied. I was hopelessly in love with Hailey, she just didn't know it.
"Don't ever fall in love. It's a trap. You'll only get your heart broken" he spoke again, this time turning away from the window and walking over to the armchair next to the window and slumped down into it. I walked into his room more closing the door behind me and went and sat in the chair that was beside the one he was currently sitting in. he obviously needed to talk, and for everything that he's done for me it's the least I could do to listen to what he wanted to say.
"It was at the bar 2 weeks ago, I was supposed to go with her that night, but I stayed home because I wasn't feeling well... someone else at the bar saw them and took a picture and sent it to me" Chase said, his stare pointed across the room. I didn't say anything back, just watched his face contort as he sniffled. He shook his head and chuckled again.
"I should have said something to her. But I let it slide, I didn't want to believe that it had happened. But when he showed up tonight and she walked off with him down the hallway. I knew, I just knew something else was going on that I didn't know of. I didn't want to ruin the party, so I just ignored it. But fuck man, this suck. I loved her? Fuck I still love her. I thought she was different." His eyes met with mine now, I could see the tears welling up in his eyes. I gave him a sad look, I honestly didn't know what to say to him.
"I know this sucks man. But if she can't see what you have than its her loss. Don't beat yourself up about it. Now get some sleep man, you look like shit" I joked with him, my words caused a small smile to turn up on his face. He shook his head and stood up. He held out his hand for me to take pulling me up into a hug. Chase had been my best friend for as long as I could remember, and he had always had my back and he knew id always have his.

After leaving Chace's room I decided to go check on Hailey. Walking down the hallway I could hear soft giggles coming from her room. Knocking on the door lightly I hear one of the girls say it was ok for me to come in. opening the door I could see the three of them lounging on the bed all in their pjs. The three of them looked over to me and smiled but the only smile I could focus on was Halley's.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I asked coming further into the room closing the door behind me. I watched as her cheeks flushed red from embarrassment as he friends grinned and giggled to one another. I walked closer to the bed ands at down at the edge closest to where Hailey was sitting.
"I'm feeling better, thanks" Hailey replied in a small voice, she didn't look up from her hands that she was fiddling with in her lap. I grabbed her hands and pulled them up to my lips kissing her knuckles quickly.
"Good. You scared me back there" I whispered back to her.
"Link, uh. Julie and I were thinking we could sleep in your room, so you can make sure Hailey like safe overnight. She needs someone big and strong like you to keep her safe. Julie and I couldn't keep her safe" Veronica spoke up now, I turned my attention to her to see Julie holding in a giggle as the two plotted their plan. I smirked at them, I really liked them. I think they are genuine people and Hailey is lucky to have the as friends.
"I guess we could do that, for Hailey's sake that is. I need to keep her safe right?" I smiled back at the two girls. They replied by nodding their heads yes before grabbing their things and running across the hallway and closing my door. I looked back at Hailey who smiled up at me. I took this time to lean down and place a warm kiss on her lips. I felt her hands come up to the sides of my face holding me there. I deepened the kiss more leaning into her more before I moved my body to be laying on top of her. I felt like I hadn't kissed her in weeks when in fact it was only a few hours ago. Soft moans came from her tiny body beneath me. The sounds turned me on and made me feel like a rabid animal. Good news! I got a new job, so hopefully now I can start making some money and be able to pay to go back to school and get a car because that is something that I need desperately!
