Chapter seven
Guilty Pleasures
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Val, hun? What are you still doing here?"
I looked up from my sweeping and saw Willa holding a baby kitten named Oscar. Leave it up to Will to name a poor kitten such a, well, odd name. What was wrong with Lily or Max or something along those categories? "What do you mean?"
"Isn't there a party tonight?" She asked.
I could feel my mouth drop open. It's not like the party was a dance or prom, so I wasn't exactly expecting Willa to know about a high school party. "How'd you know about that?"
"I was speaking with Lex the other day and he happened to bring it up."
I sighed. I didn't want to talk or even think about Lex right now. "Doesn't matter. I'm not going."
Willa took a seat on the love-seat and then patted the material. "Come sit with me," she said.
I dropped the broom and went to sit by her. She gave the kitten to me to hold, while she draped an arm around my shoulder. I snuggled the kitten close to my chest, feeling it's warm heartbeat through my thin shirt. "So," Willa starts. "Why aren't you going?"
"I don't like parties. I don't like the alcohol, and I don't like people drinking alcohol," I confessed. "People do stupid things at parties, and I refuse to be one of them."
Willa smiled at me. "You sounded so much like your dad when you said that. He taught you well."
I shrugged. "I miss him."
"So do I," she said. "But, I also remember your father being adventurous and always wanted to try new things. Don't you think that maybe you could try going to this party? Even for just a little while? Just to see what it's like."
"You make it so hard to say no, Willa." I smile. Maybe I do need to get out and actually be a teenager for once. I need a healthy dose of stupidity and teenage hormones. "Fine, I'll go. But just for you and dad only."
Willa hugged me snuggly, with the kitten smooshed inbetween us. Oscar let out a loud meow! and Willa and I laughed. "Wait!" I said, completely forgetting about something extremely important. "What about mom? You know how she is. She'll never let me out of the house."
"Don't worry about your mother, Dear. I'll take care of it."
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?"
She winked at me. "Have I ever told you that I love you more?"

I looked in the mirror, not sure if I liked what I saw. I didn't look sick anymore at least, even though my throat still had a slight raw-ness to it. I was wearing a tight, low-cut shirt, but it wasn't low enough to be skanky, and a pair of skinny jeans. I added a pair of grey boots with a slight heel and a few bracelets that dangled around my wrists.
I didn't do much with my hair; I just put half of it up and then curled the rest. For my make-up, I just added a touch of eyeliner and strawberry-flavored lip-gloss.
I looked completely different.
Before I could fuss over my appearence, I quickly looked away from the mirror and grabbed my rarely -used purse. My mom still was still out (thanks to Willa) and Pac was over at a friend's house, so I made a very easy escape.
Five mintutes later, I pulled into the street of where the party was being hosted. There were cars lined down the streets, so I had to weave in between all of the vehicles just to find an empty spot. Finally spotting one, I parked and then ventured on into the house.
The place was packed. People were in every corner either making-out, dancing, drinking, or laughing. I felt out of place already just standing there in astonishment, considering that I have never been to a party.
I saw a few people that I knew: Anna Baker, from my history class and Josh from chemistry. Anna was giggling with a group of friends, most likely gossiping about who had hooked up with who. Josh was leaning against a wall, flirting with some girls and sipping his beer. The girls let out a few laughs and twirled their hair a few times before they made their way towards the dancing crowd, leaving Josh alone with his beer.
He suddenly looked in my direction, catching me staring at him. He gave me a slow smile before I looked away, cheeks burning red. I walked away, heading to the kitchen. I flipped open one of the coolers, praying that there'd be something other than beer. Luckily, I found a Coke. I closed my eyes as it fizzled down my throat.
I was in the middle of taking another sip when someone bashed into me, hard. I gasped as the sudden collision made my hand jerk, making the soda slosh all over my shirt, staining it.
"Watch where you're going, you dumb-asses!" I yell at a face-sucking couple that had smashed into me. They were obviously a little to busy to hear me so I said, "Hello! Watch where you're go-"
I suddenly realized just who the couple was, noticing the boy's dark, wavy hair and the girl's crooked nose.
Lex and Sarah.
I don't know why, but all of these feelings just crashed right into me as soon as I realized that it was Lex: Betrayal, hurt, pissed, and, worst of all, jealousy. What the hell was wrong with me? I shouldn't be feeling like that. I should be relieved that now that he had a girlfriend, he might actually just leave me alone. Though, he probably bumped into me on purpose, just so that he could rub it in my face.
Anger and jealousy easily overcame all of the other emotions. I wanted to give Lex a piece of his own medicine. And I was going to do it.
I stormed over to Josh, grabbing him by the collar. Before he could react and before I could talk myself out of it, I pressed my lips against his and wrapped my arms around his neck. He seemed stunned but he quickly recovered, putting one arm a little to low around my waist, and the other tangled in my hair.
I have to admit: Josh was an amazing kisser for someone who definitely wasn't my type. I bite his lip, and he moaned, sliding his hand up my shirt. I pulled him towards the kitchen, where Lex and Sarah were. I sneaked a peek at them- they hadn't seen me yet. I guided Josh through the crowd, never releasing my lips from his beer-tasting ones.
We finally made it to the kitchen. Josh picked me up and placed me on the counter. I wrapped my legs around his waist, still kissing him. I sneaked another peek at Lex: he was still caught up with Sarah's lips.
I had to get his attention somehow. As I kept kissing Josh, an idea bloomed. I shoved my tounge down Josh's throat, then took his hand in mine. I placed his hand just under the wire of my bra. He moaned, his lips trailing from my lips and down my neck. I let out a loud, dramatic moan as he started sucking. I peaked at Lex.
He was staring at us, a mixture of shock and anger displayed on his face. Sarah was no where in sight. Huh, I didn't even see her leave. She most likely went to the restroom.
I quickly looked away and then whispered against Josh's lips, "You wouldn't mind getting me a drink, would you?"
He nodded eagerly, kissing me once more, then headed to the coolers. I wiped off my mouth, and pulled down my shirt. I kind of felt bad about my behavior since I wasn't the type to go around and make-out with random guys. But seeing the look on Lex's face was like music to my ears. Doesn't feel so good, huh?
'Accidently', I looked over at Lex-who was still shocked- and widened my eyes, pretending to appear embarrased and innocent. "Oh. I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there."
I reapplied some lip-gloss and then smiled at him. All he could do was stare at me.
I smirked at his speechlessness, and then turned around. I walked out of the party and into the night, both the smirk, and the over-whelming guilt at what I had done, never faded once as I drove home.
