I was a window. And I still am. You can see right through me. You know, the only reason people know I exist is that beam of sunshine that gives me the slightest bit of clarity. But you know what happens to windows when others mess up? They break. And they shatter. And they're ripped and dragged and pulled apart.

Until there's nothing.

Until there's something.

Until there's...silence.

The day I attended Phil's funeral was probably the worst day of my life. Besides being feet away from him when he died. I could barely bring myself to go. Dan stayed at home because he was just all too broken. He was a window. Dodie, Frank, and Jessie were upset, but they weren't windows. They kept themselves together. Yes, of course, they were upset, but they weren't like me, balling my eyes out onto my black dress.

I stared at Phil's lifeless body once last time. He looked peaceful, and like he was in a better place. I smiled a fake smile and said my last words to him.

"I love you, Phil..."

A tear slid down my cheek, racing the cold air, until it dropped onto the carpet, claiming its new home. I walked myself over to the podium and took a deep breath. Dozens of faces looked at me, all aching with pain.

I unfolded the paper, where I had written my speech. I wiped a tear from my cheek and cleared my airway.

"Phil Lester. He was an amazing person. An amazing friend. He was just amazing," I began.

"He had such a beautiful personality,"

"I was devastated, that moment when I turned around and saw his lifeless body. Dan was crying. I was crying."

"What I'm trying to say, he was amazing

"What I'm trying to say, he was amazing. He was a firework in the night. A song in the silence. Phil, where ever you may be, I want to tell you this. You deserve the name AmazingPhil" I finished, drenched in tears. I could barely let myself breath.

I ran from the building, leaving behind the clapping hands and the watering eyes. Everything reminded me of Phil. The way the birds sang. The way the sunshine hit the tiny plants. He was everywhere.

Everywhere, except where we needed him most: here. It was that moment, when a cloud covered the sun, leaving the world slightly darker, that I realized:

Phil is gone.

R.I.P Phil M. Lester.

THAT WAS HORRIBLE
