I stood on an ocean, an empty ocean

I stood on an ocean, an empty ocean. Waves rolled in, crashing against my feet. The slightly warm water caused the sand around my feet to build up into a small pile. I turned around, expecting to see something like beach houses and palm trees, but I turned to completely empty ness. Darkness, and death. But not exactly.

I noticed the line from the ocean waves and sand to the empty void of darkness. Relaxation to fear... I took a "brave" step into the unknown unsure of what would happen. Nothing really happened except for a transition from a soft patch of sand to pure black concrete. I didn't want to be here, I didn't even want to be at the beach scene. I turned around to go back to the beach; at least it was calming, but I was trapped in the other world.

Trapped within the darkness. I began running, and I didn't stop running until a came upon something: a single window.

It sat, floating in the air, somehow twisting the laws of gravity and such. The window was nearly perfect, besides the few smudges covering its lower pane. I approached it, lifting my hand to it.

Meeting, the window disappears with a single touch. I spun, looking for the item, but it ceased to appear.

Then I was back.

I took a long and loud deep breath as I sat up in the hospital bed.

"SHIT!" I screamed and all the nurses rushed in. Jule looked up from her phone and was shocked. The most shocking thing is that Dan isn't here.

"You're alive?!" Jule pondered.

"Yeah. I think I got hit by a car?" I responded.

Then my mother's words hit me, like a bullet to the chest, water to the flame, screaming to the silence.

Everything happens purposely. Everything happens purposely. Everything happens purposely.

I remembered everything

That first day in the flat. Phil's death. The argument with Dan. The car crash.

I mean it all makes sense. I met Dan and Phil, then Phil died and I was there for Dan because Phil couldn't. Then we argued so that maybe he wouldn't be so hurt when the car hit me. It's like the universe knew what it was doing. It had a plan and set its "mind" to it.

But of course, there was one small detail about this that didn't quite make it the cherry on top:

Who hit me with their car?
