“Ron! Get your lazy butt UP! We need to send Harry his presents now if they're going to get to him on time. Wake UP!” I screamed at my cousin, shaking him awake. He groaned and rolled over, ignoring me. “Fine, I'll just tell Fred and George that they can eat your breakfast!” I yelled at him, and then ran out the room, laughing as he chased me down the hall. I started laughing even harder when he slipped on the sock that he left out. I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen where the family, all except Ron, were having breakfast. “Fred! Ron said you can have his food,” I gasped, sitting down and attempting to catch my breath. I grabbed a bowl of berries and started eating.
“Cool,” Fred said, grabbing the bacon off of Ron's plate. He was about to put it in his mouth when Aunt Mol grabbed it out of his hand.
“I don't think so. Ron wouldn't give up food,” she said, giving me a pointed look.
“No I wouldn't!” Ron interjected when he finally made it down the stairs. “Nikki, why did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Put that sock there so I would fall.”
“No, no! That was your sock Ron. You left it there. I just knew where it was, so I wouldn't slip on it,” I said, ending with a shrug. I looked down at my Muggle watch. “Oh!” I stood up from the table and ran up to my room, which was on the third story of the Burrow and towards the back. I grabbed my wrapped presents that I bought for Harry‒ a box of assorted candies and the Handbook of Do-It-Yourself Broomcare. I ran back downstairs, to the door to the garden, and I whistled, calling my owl. I put the presents in a pouch that was tied to Leon's legs and had an undetectable expansion charm that Aunt Mol performed. “Ron, put your present in Leon's pouch when you’re finished eating and send him off.”
“Why can't you do it?” He said with a full mouth.
“Because I'm going over to Cedric's and I'm not digging around in your room to find Harry's present. It's a mess in there. Just make sure Leon's flying to Harry by 9:30, or he might not make it in time,” I said, feeding Leon a treat and stroking his feathers.
“What are you going to do at Cedric's?” George asked. I sighed.
“I already told you, he's helping me at Quidditch and flying. I'm planning on trying out for Slytherin Seeker this year.”
“Can we come?” Fred and George both asked.
“Sure. C'mon,” I reply, already walking out of the kitchen and into the garden. We made our way to the broom shed and grabbed our brooms. I had a Nimbus 2000 that I got as a birthday/Christmas present from Draco or, more likely, his father.
“You know, Nikki, it really isn't fair that you got such a good broom and didn't even know how to use it. I think you should give it to me or George, since we are way more qualified to handle it,” Fred said.
“That's a great idea!” I said, handing the broom to Fred. I quickly pulled it back, laughing. “You can have it when I get a new and better broom. And I'm just as qualified as you, which is saying a lot since you had all your life and I only had a few months. Slow learner.” Fred made a move to grab me, but I quickly ducked out of the way. “Wow, not only are you a slow learner, your just slow in general!” I giggled. I mounted my broom and kicked off. “Catch me if you can!” I screamed, being sure to stay in the cover of the trees. We sped through the trees to Cedric's house, laughing the whole way. When we got there, we quickly dismounted. “Neither one of you were even close! Who's more qualified now Fred?”
