Wandering through her mansion's halls and admiring the art is one of Adria's favourite pastimes. This is what she was doing when the shaking began. Originally Adria thought her imagination was playing up, but then the pictures began falling from their places on the walls. The earthquake lasted approximately thirty seconds. The single aftershock carrying on for about 10 seconds. Adria began the walk back to her room, in hope to quickly fix the mess, however her attention was grasped by a mysterious metal door, which must've been concealed by one of the paintings as it would be the only explanation as to why she had never seen it before. Being the curious 10-year-old girl she is, she jumped at the opportunity of an adventure. Opening the heavy door is a slight struggle, however she managed. Adria was shocked at what she saw. Hundreds, possibly thousands of skeletons. There was only two bodies that were partially recognisable, was only because of their eyes. The only people with bright blue eyes like that, were the house guests from last week. Adria couldn't be certain but it was very unlikely it would be anyone else.
She didn't tell anyone what she had seen in case of the unlikely circumstances that she was wrong. After all, she didn't want to be carted off to a looney bin. Feeling confused, she went to the only person in her family she felt she could trust, her brother, Staeey. She asked, well more demanded to know why there was skeletons in a secret room behind a portrait. He replied jokingly,"well where else would we put them? In the Dining Room?" Adria shot him a glare which quickly made him back down. "Ok, ok. But once I tell you, you can't tell anyone. And I mean anyone. Not even Darci. Understand?" Staeey said all of this in his most serious tone. Adria nodded silently. She was shaking with anticipation, she just wanted to know what was going on. "We are a creature, although some might say demon, named Wendigos," Staeey recounted as if from a textbook,"our parents had planned to tell you on your thirteenth birthday. The only way for our species to survive is to eat human flesh."
"You must be joking!" Cried Adria in disbelief,"I bet you're just saying that to make fun of me! If you didn't want to tell me then you could've just said so." Those were her last words as she stormed out the room furious with her brother, convinced he was tricking her. However the more she thought about it, the more the answer she had been given increased its plausibility. For example; gets came to visit there house weekly and yet she never saw any of them leaving. Secondly, they are meat with practically every meal. And lastly it would explain the missing flesh and parts of the disfigured bone on the skeletons. Forgetting what she had agreed to, she invited over Darci, her best friend, in order to try and get another perspective. Foolishly, Adria told Darci everything, from the secret room, to whatever Wendigos were. Adria was very prideful and now almost 100% confident that this was the answer, didn't take it nicely to being laughed at as soon as she finished talking. In her anger she pushed Darci back with unusual strength, causing her to slam through a table and break off one of its legs. Now Darci, terrified for her life, swung the table leg infront of her desperate to get away from this madness. Adria terrified of both herself and Darci, crawled backwards as quickly as she could, trying to get away from everything was her downfall. Adria has gone back to far and to quickly, she slammed through the window and hit garden bed outside her now broken window. She had died on impact. Adria's parents and brother scrambled up the stairs upon hearing Adria's scream. Being Wendigos they wanted vengeance so, they cooked up Darci and ate her.
