Trinity remembered the car accident like it was yesterday, with her being trapped in her own mind, it very well could've been. The crashing wasn't so bad, it was the after affects. Trinity felt like she was falling.
She fell over and over again as if her feet would never hit the solid floor again. Then what seemed to be hours later, it all went black. The next thing Trinity could remember was being in a bare room, with plain white walls, and she sat for a few minutes trying to understand what was going on.
Suddenly a loud noise which she couldn't seem to place burst into her ears. The sadness she felt after realising who it was, it was stayed etched deep in her soul. It was her mother crying and begging for her to wake up.
As suddenly as it had started, the voice stopped, and did nothing to decrease Trinity's concern. How she had wished to respond and soothe all of her Mum's concerns. A different voice flooded through the room, a more computerised sounding voice, almost robotic.
"Welcome Trinity. You are in a coma as a result of being in a car crash. The only way for you to wake up is to defeat each of your fears. Once a fear has been defeated, a doorway will appear on the other side of the room. Walk through the door to continue to the next stage. Before you begin, you must understand these circumstances: if you are poisoned, you die; if you stay in a room for longer than a week in your time, then you will be killed; and lastly, if your heart rate reaches any higher than 115, you will die. Walk through this door when you are ready to begin," instructed the voice.
Her first fear was the dark. Trinity was frozen in fear for at least two days. On the third day she finally worked up the courage to investigate the room. She felt around the room, using the walls as guidance. The layout, she figured, was mostly the same as the previous room with no obvious differences.
Trinity eventually grew to be comfortable in the room as her eyes had mostly adjusted to the lack of light and she felt comfortable enough there. On the sixth day of being stuck in the room, she had grown very confident with walking around the room she discovered a new door on the other side of the room and cautiously pushed it open, only to be doused in light.
Trinity's eyes struggled to adjust to the bright light. Once she could clearly see, it was easy to discover that she was in a forest- or bush-like environment which was very dry. Then the fire started. It had started with a sharp strike and seemed to dance in her fearful eyes. She was momentarily frozen in shock, but sprung into action as the fire crept ever closer.
Trinity ran for kilometres but the fire seemed to be following her. When she could run no further, she collapsed on the dry, calloused ground and tried to regain her breathing. The fire kept close, causing her heart rate to increase drastically.
Trinity focused on her breathing and making sure her heart rate wasn't getting too high. She slowed her breathing. She relaxed faster here as it seemed the fire wasn't getting any closer. The door appeared, apparently in mid-air, and she walked through.
The next room contained snakes. So many snakes. They crawled towards her, circling her as if she was their prey, but with snakes you could never be certain if you weren't on the menu.
Her heartbeat spiked from about seventy beats per minute right up to at least 95 beats per minute. Her breath was unsteady and her hands were thick with sweat. The snakes grew closer, ever so gradually. Closer and closer until they were almost touching Trinity's feet. She felt the slimy snake skin on her bare feet.
