FRANKIE'S POV:
"MILES!!!! HUNTER!!!!!!" Oh my god. Where did they go? I need to help them. They are hurt! I can't bear to think about the fact that they might be dead right now. I need them. I need them to be alive. This is not happening.
I run into Hunter's room, and turn on the light. He sits up, confused, tired, and a little pissed off that I woke him up.
Before he could ask me what's going on, I sprint straight into Miles' room to see his still body. I shake him awake. He better be alive. He has to be fine. I just watched Dad beat him senseless. He couldn't breathe. He crumbled to the ground. I swear. I watched it happen.
"What the hell is going on?" Miles looks like he hasn't slept in about a year.
Where are his bruises? The blood? I watched it all happen. Dad just about killed him and Hunter.
I stand in Miles' dark room, confused and shaken up, thanking the Lord that they are alive, but also wondering how.
"You're okay??" I don't even know what to say.
"What is going on?" Hunter asks, walking into Miles' room.
"I watched it happen. Dad hurt you guys. Why are you okay? I thought you were..." I can't finish the sentence.
Miles engulfs me in a hug, and promises me that it was just a nightmare. But it seemed so real. How could it have been a dream? If I wasn't looking at my perfectly unharmed brothers right now, I wouldn't believe it.
"I'm so sorry I woke you guys up" I feel so guilty.
"No need to apologize" Hunter tries to make me feel better, "It's not your fault. Is this the first time you've had a dream like this?"
"Well, no.... it's almost every night now. But... they get more and more real every time." I tell the truth.
"Are you sure you want to go through with what you we have planned? You don't have to," Hunter asks.
"Yes. Mom has to find out. This is the only way." I convince myself, and the boys.
Miles hasn't said a word, he's just been hugging me the whole time. "Do you mind if I sleep here?" I ask him quietly.
"Not at all. We can talk in the morning. Why don't we all just get to sleep?" Miles suggests.
Hunter insists on not going back to sleep alone tonight, so he falls asleep on the loveseat in the room.
- THE NEXT MORNING -
"Franks, wake up" Hunter gently wakes me up. "We're already late and you have to put on your makeup"
I know that he isn't talking about my face makeup. I have a huge handprint around my throat and a black eye.
Thank God it will be colder today. I can pull off a scarf, pants, and a sweatshirt.
I put on my jeans, sweater, and scarf after caking on my foundation.
Dad usually leaves before us this time of the week, but we see him in the kitchen on our way out instead.
"Franks, I have something for you" He says, "come with me" he gestures for me to follow him.
"No, we are late. Lets go, Franks, "Miles gestures for me to go the opposite direction with him to the car.
"It will only be a second" Dad says, and I follow him to the back driveway.
Miles texts me as Dad brings me outside:
M: What are you doing?
F: Chill. He's sober.
M: Since when does he care about that?
F: He's a good guy. He loves us
M: You've got to be kidding me
I roll my eyes, but when I look up, I see a pearl white Range Rover.
"Oh my god" My dream car.
"Surprise!!" Dad gestures to the car as if he were Vanna White, and gives me the keys.
"Oh my god thank you!!" I give him a hug and sprint towards the drivers seat.
I pull to the front of the house, and tell Miles and Hunter to get in.
"Dad bought you this?! Can't you see what he's doing?"
"He feels bad! He's trying to make up for it!!" I defend my dad. Miles just doesn't get it. Dad loves me, even if he doesn't always know how to show it.
"He's trying to buy your silence! He can't just make this all better with a couple expensive gifts!"
"I'll see you at school" I harshly respond, as I roll up my window, and drive off. I can't believe that he's not even trying to see it my way.
...
The day was pretty normal, just gliding from class to class, and I hung with Zig after, to show off my new car.
I roll up to my house for dinner, and see a new car in the driveway.
I wonder whose that is.. maybe a new gift for Hunter??
After dropping all of my school stuff off in my room, I head to the dining room, where I assume we're eating dinner.
I sit in the last open seat at the table, and see a familiar face sitting next to Hunter.
"Everyone, you must remember Drew. He helped with my campaign, and I've now hired him as my assistant" my dad announces, breaking the silence.
Hunter and I flash quick smiles at Drew, as to welcome him. Miles' stare is never broken between him and his food.
"Good to see you again, Drew! We look forward to seeing you around more" my mom says with a friendly, welcoming smile.
Drew and my parents chat on and on with Drew the whole dinner, with us siblings never breaking our silence.
I smile politely, as to say goodbye to Drew at the end of dinner, and head to Miles' bedroom, who left before dessert.
"Knock knock" I say, instead of actually knocking.
"Hey sister" Miles says, in his way of inviting me in.
"We need a plan" I state bluntly. "I'm tired of all this waiting and tip toe-ing around. I'm ready for closure".
"You sure you're ready?" Hunter asks, poking his head into the room.
"I really am. Please let's just do this" I attempt to convince them, and myself.
