America was much different than Spain, it was loud, dull, and life less. His first day spent in California was a mess. His aunt Gloria hasn't picked them up in the airport instead some 'agent' or so he said he was picked them up, and dropped them off at a hotel where they were supposed to stay for the night. Throught the night he noticed the Americans would around like the living dead. Mundanily doing minimal task, such as checking in at the front desk, swimming and banging at the vending machine. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before and his aunt was no different. He quickly noticed the difference between aunt Gloria and Maria. Gloria, was loud with bleached blond hair, and a wild bright red suit his mother would be caught dead wearing that. It was almost comical to him.
"Welcome welcome!" She almost yelled as the car haulted infront of one of the largest houses he had ever seen. "I know it's not much, but it will fit us all comfortably" she smiled. Elliot could instantly tell the smilenwas fake just like the one his mother had plastered on her face something was going on and the boys were getting left out of the loop.
"Thank you aunt Gloria, but what is this all about?" He said finnaly as they stepped into the house, it was almost sicking how white everything was the walls, the couch, the dog all white! It was as though nobody lived here "Aunt?" He said glancing back to her after she hadn't responsed to him after a couple minutes. Instantly he could tell in her face that he was asking about something she didn't want to share. The young womans brow was furrowed and she looked as though she would have a heart attack if he pushed any further.
"Oh Elliot, always the curious one" she said which surprised him slightly they had never met before and now she was making assumptions about him. "Your coming to stay with me for a while" she paused for a second before continuing as though she was trying to miticously pick the words "your parents need to figure some things out for a while, the leader has a very special plan for Spain" she smiled as glowing, causing him to frown.
'So it does have to do with the leader' he thought to himself, as he followed his aunt to the upstairs.
"This will be your room Bry" she said gesturing to the first room on the left, he nodded turning as he walked into the room not allowing Eli to get a look before, Gloria began pushing him again to keep him moving "and this one will be yours" she said pointing to the last room in the seemingly never ending hallway. "Dinner will be at six" she added before heading down the stairs. Leaving Elliot alone in the large room, just like all the other rooms the walls were white. He frowned moving to his bed as he dropped his suitcase down, slowly pulling out one piece of clothing at a time as the hours clicked by. He soon realized it was six "damn" he whispered to himself, realizing his mother would have beat him if he said that to her as he made his way down the stairs into the dining room.
"Dinners ready boys" Gloria said she had set the table with dark blue table clothes, whe re she expect them to sit. She was at the head of the table and Bryson sat across from Elliot. After they both sat she put a large bowl of ravolli in front on them, and as soon as Eli took a bite he knew he was either gonna starve to death or have to get out of here. The taste was like sand dry and chalky, it was nothing like the food back home.
"Now after you finish eating, wash up and head to bed" Gloria said and with that she got up and left them alone. That night at dinner there was no words exchanged between Bryson and Elliot they were both still trying to process what was going on. So, instead they both just headed to bed without so much as a "goodnight" that was another thing Elliot regretted, not telling Bry more often how much he really did love the ten year old boy.
