5 - It's Quiet Uptown

Yes my Hamiltrash-mates, I made something angsty.
Prompt: Maria cheated on Eliza, and yeah, forgiveness can u imagine

Eliza sat in the garden, still heartbroken after the revelation of her wife's affair. She lazily fiddled with the gold diamond ring on her finger and sighed.

Maria arrived at the garden with a bouquet of blue lilacs. (Shout out to HamiltonIsMe) She approached Eliza with great caution, hoping to not scare her away this time.

"Look at where we are.." she knelt in front of Eliza with the flowers.

Eliza faced away from Maria and pretended she wasn't there.

"..look at where we started." She paused, holding back a few tears.

"I know I don't deserve you, Eliza. But hear me out, that would be enough." She said, placing one of the lilacs behind Eliza's ear.

"If I could spare his life, if I could trade his life for mine." The tears started to fall from both of their eyes. You see, Eliza and Maria's son, Philip, had recently died after suffering a heart disease.

"He'd be standing here right now, and you would smile, that would be enough." Maria sat down beside Eliza.

"I don't pretend to know, the challenges we're facing. I know there's no replacing what we've lost." She choked back more tears.

Eliza stood up to leave, and just before she was far enough and couldn't hear her wife's voice anymore. Maria cried. "But I'm not afraid," she cried, letting more tears loose. "I know who I married."

Eliza stopped, and didn't know why she couldn't help but listen.

"Just let me stay here by your side. That would be enough."

*Time skip, where they're standing in the garden*

Angelica looked out the window. "There are moments that the words don't reach, there's a grace too powerful to name." She whispered.

"We push away what we can never understand."

"We push away the unimaginable."

Angelica's face started to light up a bit. "They are standing in the garden, Maria by Eliza's side.

A tear also fell from Angie's eye. "She takes her hand."

Eliza sang, "It's quiet uptown."

Forgiveness? Can you imagine?

Eliza smiled at a surprised Maria. "You are forgiven, my love." Eliza said.

Maria fell to her knees in front of Eliza and held her hands.

"I love you, Eliza."

"I love you, Maria."
