Forgetting The Pain

I got into my house and immediately ran to the bathroom, I have to get this blood off of my shirt! I knew panicking would make it worse, calm down Kat. I let out a slow shaky breath and studied the blood on the shirt, there wasn't as much as I thought there was. I'd be able to wash this out with some soap. I started to rub the shirt and slowly the blood came off I sighed in relief. I was going to throw this shirt away on my way to the airport. I changed what I was wearing and called for a cab. The cab arrived 10 minutes later and honked to let me know it was there. I ran out and got into the car after driving in silence for an hour and a half I asked the cab driver to let me out because I felt ill. I ran out into the bush and made a movement that looked like I was regurgitating rather than throwing my once bloodied clothes deep into the overgrowth. I went back and wiped my 'vomit' off of my mouth. I smiled and thanked the driver for being patient. We drove off once again.

I waited for Kirsty to arrive, I couldn't believe that we haven't seen each other face to face for years. I couldn't believe I was going to be eighteen tomorrow. I couldn't believe I almost killed a man. I couldn't believe quite a bit of things. Over the intercom I couldn't barely make out what she said but I was excited when she mentioned Kirsty's flight was landing.  'Plane 38920 will be landing in 3 minutes, plane 39478 will be taking off in 1 hour. Thank you for your patience' *click*.

I saw Kirsty and ran to her and embraced her in a hug. I started to cry, she was here, she was really here. It took her a moment to register what was going on but eventually put her arms around me and started to cry herself. "I missed you so much Kat." I stared up into her eyes

"Your parents were fine with you visiting me?"

"Sorta."

"Sorta?"

"I might have not told them."

"OoOooOOh" I teased her. "They're going to be pissed."

"I know right. Well I'm going to be eighteen soon."

"Yea in like a year I'm going to be eighteen tomorrow."

"Close enough." She laughed at my panicked expression. "Don't worry Kitty Kat they're on a 'business trip' in Rio. "

"Well then. I'll tell you everything when we get home, but right now you must have some serious jetlag."

"Surprisingly it isn't as bad as I thought it was."

"Huh. Lets' go." I grabbed her hand and we hailed a cab outside, I'm pretty sure the cab driver was driven mad when we were giggling like school girls. "Oh my god Kirsty! What about school?" I thought of that suddenly.

"School is canceled this week."

"You guys are lucky."

"Not as lucky as you are Miss-I'm-Going-To-Be-Eighteen-Tomorrow."

"Shhhhh." I couldn't help but smile, Kirsty always knew how to make me smile and for a moment I forgot everything that had happened that day.
