Dad: Jessie, no matter what you do don't go into the basement.
Jessie: why? What's in there?
Dad: just do as you are told! Don't you dare!
Jessie's POV
My dad seemed very annoyed... Jessie thought. She read her Dads message again continuously.
Her legs walking back and fourth, determined on opening the door down towards the basement.
But curiosity killed the cat... right?
Jessie grinned. She approached the ancient oak wood door to find pitch black consuming the room.
Well this is just... boring. There's nothing wrong in the basement.
That's when she heard a swift movement beside her. As if rats scurried across the cemented floor. She whipped her head to find a rat perched up on the book shelf, squeaking continuously.
That's until when more rats scurried from under the floorboards and book shelves.
She took a breath...
A large rat moved towards her with sharp pointed teeth. His grey dull molten fur made Jessie moved backwards.
With a sharp pinch, Jessie looked to her left to find a rat biting her arm. She squealed to pry the rodent off her body.
More rats joined in biting at her skin. She swiped her hand down her arm, the rats flying towards the floor.
She rushed out the basement with rats trailing behind her. She slammed the door to the basement and sat on the couch in fear.
Jessie: why didn't you tell me there is a rat infestation in the basement?
Dad: what did I tell you. Get out of there now!
Jessie: why what happened?
Dad: yesterday, your mum got eaten out alive by those rodents! I can't loose you to!
Jessie: YOU SAID IT WAS A CAR ACCIDENT.
Dad: it was better than the truth.
A pounding on the basement door made her heart to beat faster, sweat to form on her forehead.
Jessie: where is the house key?!? Something is banging on the door!
No reply...
Jessie: Dad!!
No reply...
Jessie: I heard the door open!
No reply...
Rats rushed out the basement arriving into the same room as Jessie. She held her breath.
A rat squawked in warning and the rats climbed onto the couch.
Jessie strangled out screams as the rodents nipped and bites her arms and legs.
More rats arrived as Jessie felt weak and numb. Rats peeling off her skin to raw bone.
Wine-coated couch full off blood was the last thing Jessie saw as she passed out. Her phone slipping out her palm in the process.
A loud ping on the floor, flashing a phone screen.
Dad: the key is on the kitchen counter.
