They all warned me that Jack Avery was nothing but trouble. It was almost like he was created just for me... And when he looked into my eyes... And when he says my name... "I love you, Ashley." And all the trouble can't keep me away.
Ugh. Waking up never gets any easier, I thought as I got up. I'd better get ready.
"Ashley, get up! You're gonna be late... I have to drop you AND your sister off, so hurry up." My mom said as she came into my room.
"I'm up! See? Ready to go." I told her.
Outside, Jack's motorcycle revved.
"That damn Avery boy is making a racket again! At our old house in North Oaks we never had to deal with--" My mom said.
"Jack, mom. His name is Jack." I said as I cut her off.
Ever since we moved in across the street, I've been obsessed. Can you blame me? OMG, I can't even process how hot he is! PERFECT.
"Get changed, we're leaving in ten." My mom said.
"What's wrong with what I'm wearing? I always dress like this." I argued.
"Exactly, sweetie. People can tell when you're putting in a little effort." My mom said and I rolled my eyes. "Well, it's up to you. Wear whatever you want. And don't forget to ask Amy how many cupcakes we're making for the dance, OK?" My mom said as she left my room.
She's annoying, but whatever, she's my mom... Should I really change? I wear this like. EVERY DAY. Then again, I'm pretty *positive* that what I have on won't get noticed by Jack. I need an outfit that will make him stare when I walk by. Whatever, I'll just keep what I have on. I don't look bad... but I *definitely* look boring. So much for catching Jack's eye with my outfit. He'll probably never notice me.
I grabbed my car keys and went to school.
You'd think I'd be used to seeing Jack by now... I'm not.
"Nah. Why would I want to go to some bullshit dance?" Jack said.
"Come on, dude! How often do you have a thousand girls lining up to grind on you?" Zach said.
"Every single day of my life, man" Jack said and they all laughed.
"That's this weekend? Shit, I still have no idea who I'm gonna ask..." Jonah said.
"A date? Why limit your options?" Jack said.
"Hey, maybe I'm a one-woman kind of guy." Jonah said and they all laughed. "Speaking of women, you know who that chick over there is?" Jonah said as they all turned to look at me.
Shit! They saw me!
"Never seen her before in my life, why?" Jack said.
"She was staring at us, bro!" Jonah said and they all laughed.
"C'mon let's go smoke up. I'm gonna need a buzz to sit through Jacobson's class." Jack said as they walked outside.
Jack, Zach, and Jonah. The coolest guys in school.
Lola walked up to me and laughed. "OMG. You need a towel to clean up that drool? News Flash: you're basic. We're you just spying on Jack? That is SO sad." She said and laughed again.
"Hey, well, I..." I said and she laughed.
That's Lola, Jack's latest conquest.
"I SAW you creeping on me and Jack at the movies. What's your deal, psycho?" She said.
"I wasn't creeping." I said.
I totally was though.
"You're pathetic. That's why Jack is going to the dance with ME! You're gonna be sitting on the side getting fat off your mom's cupcakes." She said as she laughed.
