(Anna's Pov)

I wasn't exactly ready for the sudden engagement party that was being held today. Herman's and his future wife's, to be exact. I, along with Andrea and Amy had both been notified last night that our older brother would be holding his engagement party tomorrow, at a well known venue in the city.

Carmine Caló.

I was taken aback by the news, much like Amy. Andrea hadn't really cared, because he didn't fully understand. I wasn't surprised that it was happening, but rather that my parents had left us in the dark and planned it all without letting us know a single detail. Heck, if it weren't for Amy and I's eavesdropping ways, we wouldn't even have seen who his bride would be.

Now we were all dressed in a pair our finest clothing. I wore an off the shoulders dress, a dark red color, which was long and reached my ankles. I had picked out my favourite pair of heels, which had been a Christmas gift two years ago; they were red and 4-inches long. Amy had done both our make up quite simply, the only thing really standing out was the red lipstick that coated my lips. My hair was left out, in its natural curls. And jewellery, I only wore my diamond stud earrings.

I wasn't comfortable standing in the hall filled with women and men that my parents were friends, or acquaintances with. My arm was linked with Amy, the two of us glanced around, drinking away from the fancy glasses in our hands and making small comments here and there. We sort of resembled the bitchy women you'd see at parties in movies.

"I'm hungry," Amy muttered beside me. "Where's the appetisers?"

I shrugged, feeling my own stomach rumble in hunger. "The waiters will probably come around soon. They were just handing out drinks."

"True," She agreed, before she abruptly perked up. "Speaking of which, I see some waiters coming over right this minute."

I shook my head, smiling at her eagerness for food.

"Amy and Anna," A familiar voice called with surprise. "The two Romino sisters."

Both our heads turned to face the direction the voice came from, eyes landing on a woman who I hadn't seen in years. And boy did I wish it had stayed that way.

"Auntie Margret," Amy chirped falsely, as if she was happy to see her. I could tell easily she was faking it by her tone and the way her eyes squinted. It had become easy to read her after years.

"Isn't it lovely to see you two girls," The grey haired woman said, her green eyes flickering between us two. I had never liked her eyes, they would scare me when I was younger. Sure, the color was beautiful, but the emotions and way she'd look at me had always made me resent them.

"We could say the same," Amy carried out the conversation, as I falsely flashed her a smile. I could already see her eyeing us up, judging how our facial features had turned out as well as our bodies. She was such a shallow person who would always pick at our tiniest flaws since we were children. She was my mother's sister, married to a man just as bad as her and had four sons who she utterly adored.

"It's been, what? Ten years since I last saw you two?" She laughed. "You both look so much older... You both definitely look like you're ready to be married off by now."

I tried not to frown, keeping that smile still playing on my face, though it was extremely hard staring back at her green eyes and snobby expression. She always thought better of herself than my mother, just because she had given birth to four sons and had always reminded my mother, and just about everyone, of that.

"Actually, I've only just turned twenty-one and Anna is nineteen." Amy shared, her voice sickly sweet.

"Twenty-one?" Auntie Margret cried with shock. "Then it's most definitely good I reminded your mother about marrying you off."
