butterflies

y/n hopped on her bike, pedaling towards her destination; a tree by a small pond. she loved going to the tree to relax or just to think about life, but today was different. she was going to hang out with her best friend of seven years, bill denbrough.

ever since the start of the 8th grade, she could never get him off her mind. y/n didn't understand why she felt this way seeing as she had never been in love or even had a boyfriend.

y/n saw the beautiful oak tree come into view and she came to a halt. she rested her bike against the tree. y/n was slight disappointed that bill wasn't there yet, but he always had a tendency of being late to things.

y/n decided to rest against the tree while she waited. she admired the scenery; the clear blue sky, the flowers that grew beyond the pond.

a sound of someone approaching her snapped her back to reality. y/n turned her head towards the direction of the sound. she smiled softly as she saw bill walking towards her.

"hey y/n!" bill said cheerily and sat down on the soft patch of grass next to her.

y/n smiled, "hey bill." she felt nervous all of a sudden. she had to snap out of it.

"i can s-see why y-you c-come here." Bill told her, pulling his knees to his chest as he looked around him then at her. 

"yeah. it's beautiful out here." y/n admitted, blushing softly as she felt his eyes staring at her.

"not as b-beautiful as y-you." Bill said without thinking. a red tint rose to his cheeks.

y/n's stomach was swarming with butterflies. "um...thank you." she had no idea of what to say to the boy sitting next to her.

"c-can i ask you s-something?" bill asked, trying to change the subject.

"sure. go for it." y/n answered, still not looking into the boy's blue eyes.

"h-have you ever b-been k-kissed before?" he asked nervously, looking at the girl, waiting for her answer.

y/n felt her cheeks heat up even more. "n-no, why are you asking?" she replied, nervously. she had no clue as to what sparked bill's sudden interest in this topic.

"b-because i'd l-like to b-be y-your first k-kiss." bill admitted honestly. he had had these feelings for y/n for a while now ever since the summer two years ago.

"really?" y/n asked shocked, finally building up the courage to look at the boy.

bill nodded softly, his cheeks tinted with red.

y/n's heart skipped a beat. she smiled all of a sudden, realizing that her first kiss was about to take place.

bill's eyes glanced down at y/n's lips before returning back to her eyes. y/n's heart beat increased as she took the first step and leaned in slowly.

her lips met his and they shared a kiss. y/n pulled away, her eyes opening.

"you're n-not a b-bad k-kisser." bill told her, laughing softly.

"you're not that bad yourself." y/n laughed, brushing her hair out of her face.
