I watched him crumble up his paper and groan in frustration. He tried to throw it into the trash can, but it bounced off the rim and ended up on the floor.

"God damn it!"

He banged his head on the table and didn't move after putting his hands through his hair.

His light brown hair was short, but goes perfectly with his lightly tanned skin and strong figure.

I slowly got up, so I wouldn't make any noise, gathered all my things and made my way to the trash can. I bent over to pick up the crumpled paper and I threw it away. I turned to look at him, but he still had his head down. I left the library without looking back again.

Taking the public bus to my apartment complex went the same as usual. My place is on the first floor and it's a small little home, with two rooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen and a cramped living room. There aren't many people living in the complex, it's run down, but it's cheap enough for me to live in, so that's good.

I put my things down on the kitchen counter and went to my bedroom so I can change into my uniform for work. The diner I work at is a few blocks away so I have to walk there in uniform, but it's not that bad. Just a pair of black dress pants or even jeans along with a white button up shirt. Today I wore black jeans to school so I decided not to bother changing them.

I went into the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My blue eyes looked paler than normal, it made my jet-black hair look darker than the night without the moon.

I made sure everything was locked up, that I had my i.d. with me, and then I left to walk to work.

It's starting to get dreary out; I hope it doesn't rain before I have to come home. I spent the rest of the walk thinking about my new class schedule at school.

"Hey Castiel, how was school today?" Bobby looked up from the table he was wiping down and waited for my response.

"It was fine I guess." I gave him a little smile and he came in to give me a hug.

"Well, now that school's started I'll need you to give me your schedule so we can make a plan for you to continue working here, just come in when you can for now."

"Yes, sir." He gave me a little smile and pat me on the back.

"Now go get to the register and take the orders from the ones seated at the bar."

Bobby is my manager, but he's also an old family friend, and so he gave me a job here, at his diner. He's been really kind to me, watching over me and helping me out.

I clocked in and took a few orders from the people sitting at the bar. School had only ended an hour ago, so high schooler's are sure to start flooding in soon.

Not long after thinking that, a group of rowdy students from my school came in together, and took up two booths. Luckily, it was Jo who waited on those booths, not lucky for her, but lucky for me.

Jo goes to a nearby community college, she's Bobby's niece though, so she's kind of guaranteed a job here as long as she wants it.

She's quit a few times; Jo hates this little town, and the people in it. Especially the guys who flirt with her while she's waiting on them. But she doesn't really have anywhere else to go, so Bobby always takes her back. Jo's really smart, but sometimes lets her anger get the best of her.

Those kids who she hates don't really mess with me; they don't acknowledge me at all. In fact, I'd be surprised if any of them knew I existed, but that's probably because I try to keep a low profile, I guess I'm good at it.

Dean Winchester is friends with them though.

Dean Winchester...

He's not exactly the star of the school, not at all actually, but he does hang out with his small group of friends, the idiots. They don't realize how great he is. I hear them sometimes, 'just joking' around with him. I always cringe when I hear what they say, and wonder why Dean sticks with them. Mean things about his little brother; 'Sammy' they call him... or 'the pest'. They ask why Dean's 'old crank' wouldn't let him go out to a party the night before and why Dean even bothered with working at the town's car shop.

I think I understand him. Dean, that is. We know life isn't perfect, and it never will be. We can't fool around, we need to take this seriously. We need to take care of our ourselves and our futures; that comes first.

"Hey Castiel! Get to work and ring up those customers!" Jo shouted at me and waved to the couple trying to catch my attention. I looked over at them in surprise, I hadn't realized.

"I am so sorry." I say to them with my head down as I collect their dishes to put in the sink behind me.

"It's fine, kid." The man said with a playful smile. His hair was longer but slicked back, and the girl next to him definitely looked like she wasn't impressed with my service.

He handed me his order and debit card. "Just ring us up," I watched him crane his neck to read my name pin, "Castiel Novak." He smiled again.

I gave him a tight-lipped nod, input his order number, and slid his card, Gabriel Trikstuer. He and the woman stood up to leave.

"Yes, sir, Mr. Trēkstōre." I handed him his card back and he grabbed my hand, starring right into my eyes. He didn't look playful anymore. He looked deadly serious.

"It's pronounced 'Trickster'."

I gulped and nodded.

He let go of me slowly, grabbed his card, and turned around to usher his partner out of the diner.

I left work that night, very worn out.
