Chapter IV - Penance

I was to chase after him but I was too powerless to pursue. I stalked around the house, looking at where my son had suffered pain for the last 18 years. Examining the bed he slept in through blurry eyes, while almost not seeing the blood splattered across the walls and floor. I saw the pitch fork the woman had, as well as a chair with loose string around its legs. Who knows what terrors he had endured.

I had missed out on an entire life of my son, I was never able to hug him or kiss him, or even smell him. I had killed many people, men, my husband and an old woman to receive nothing, and in the end see that it was all for nothing. After all, my son had suffered so much. All because of me.

Soon my son was back but with two police officers. They arrested me, hand-cuffs painfully tightening around my wrists. I looked upon my son, he had been freed from both the man and the two women in his life who had ruined it. At least in this moment he was safe, but who knows who else he'll see in the world or what else he'll suffer. We live in a world filled not only with malicious men, but also malicious women. We live in a world filled with malicious people and I hope my son will survive.
