"Let's do this,'" Azie hissed through gritted teeth, her piercing gaze sweeping across her acquaintances as she nodded curtly at each of them.
Amara Azrail Freyja, known as Azie, a 17-year-old high school student from Marie University, was about to spend two hours in detention for taking down a bully - along with Arius Claeg, the school owner's son, and his clique.
Little did they know, chaos was unfolding outside the soundproof detention room, setting off a chain of unpredictable events.
Azie's POV
"I heard you whacked someone's face last night?" My classmate asked, eyes wide with excitement.
I nodded, familiar with the gossip mill that fueled our school.
"That's a good one, Azie," another classmate chimed in. I shrugged, knowing my reputation for standing up for myself.
"So, how does it looked like for you? Detention? Community service? Going to jail or something?" I frowned. No need to tell me that.
"I wish I'd put more force into his nose."
They laughed, aware of my fiery temper when it came to justice.
The previous night's incident had been self-defense against a bully's pervy moves. I wasn't proud of it, but I wouldn't back down.
As I put on my AirPods and scrolled through Spotify, the Cranberries' "Zombie" began to play. Music was my escape.

Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we mistaken?Glancing at my watch, I saw we still had a few minutes before our class started, and our notorious teacher, Mr. Dunn, would arrive.
"Anyways, heard another tea?" someone whispered, despite my AirPods.
But you see, it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fightingLeni Ravens, the school's top gossip, spoke up. "Have you heard the news about the widespread virus in the city?"
I tuned out, focusing on the music.
"...my dad works at the government health center...they're trying to silence rumors while figuring out how to stop the virus."
I opened my eyes, intrigued despite myself.
"...a patient at Trevor Hospital was diagnosed with an inexplicable disease...released three days ago, but now she's...psycho!"
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are cryingThe class erupted into whispers and gasps.
"The only thing they can stop the virus for me is killing."
