"Pangea was once a world of race. The race were known as Pangeans were the strong warriors that used the abilities of the land for the lack of their own. These "humans" lived in peace for only 100 years until one day when godlike creatures were born. This race were known as Monterians. They had powers and abilities that no Pangean could ever dream of having. The Pangeans knew if the Monterians were unpleased they could cause destruction. Frightened of their safety the Pangeans attempted to make peace with the Monterians and succeeded. From that day forward the Pangeans and Monterians lived beside each other in peace and harmony for many moons to come. Yet sadly the peace started to fade. Over time the Pangeans took advantage of the Monterian's abilities and began using them. When the Monterians noticed this they began rebelling against the Pangeans. Many believe the Monterians should have won easily but due to the Pangeans advanced military the battle ended in a close tie. Tired and running out of recourses the Pangeans made a compromise. If the Pangeans would be able to have control over Pangea the Monterians could live safely and have rights; if not the Pangeans would wipe out the Monterians. The deal was accepted. Peace was present again and for over 150 years. Sadly all good things must come to an end. The Pangean royal family has reigned for all these generations. One morning however, the queen at the time was found dead at the bottom of a cliff on the shore. She was with child during her death. Immediately most expected it was an act of suicide but right next to her pale lifeless body was a note with the Monterian crest scribbled on it. Heartbroken that the mother of his two young children has passed the king banished the Monterians to a little side of Pangea. The few Pangeans that thought of this as unfair joined the Monterians on the land and stole goods to give to the Monterians. These Pangeans were known as rotten thieves. Now even after this long decade the Pangeans still have complete control of what's left of the Monterians. Every moon the Monterians have to pay debt for who knows why. Maybe soon peace will come again but maybe not. I simply can not believe anyone even reads this any more!", Mia cried slamming the book shut.
"Maybe if they did they would learn not to treat the rest of us like rotting scum of the earth" I murmured keeping an ear out for trotting horse hooves or the jingle of coin purses.
"Like any of those Pangs read! They only spend their days counting coins and flaunting their goods.", Mia mocked wrapping her crimson scarf tightly around her head completely covering her ears.
"Do you hear anything yet? My tail is hurting." Mia whined adjusting her disguise.
That is the downside of being a shape shifter, if you ever want to look like a Pangean you would have to completely hide your animal counterparts; gladly I don't have to put up with that. Mia continued to adjust her outfit as I put my ear closely to the ground. I hear trotting.
"It's time get into position." I whisper gently shoving Mia away. Mia quickly runs into a bush and waits. The look gleaming in her eye looks as a predator ready to pounce on it's prey. I quickly ready my knife and climb a large trunk of a tree. I could see exactly what's going on between the leaves. An extravagant carriage decorated in gems and gold is escorted by an elegant white steed down the path. The predator pounces. Mia smears red berries on her leg and throws a stone at the carriage wheel caused it to stumble. She flops to the ground and wails.
"Oh my! My leg!", she cried with glistening crocodile tears streaming down her face. Even though how much I hate to say it, she's a good actor. The driver does nothing while a man dressed in shiny clothing runs out of the carriage. His powdered wig and thick layers of make up shows he is from the west kingdom; a very wealthy and extravagant part of Pangea.
"Oh heavens miss! Are you alright?", he yells clearly discomforted by the sight of the "blood".
"I believe so but m-may I ask you of something s-sir?" Mia asked quietly sounding just like a shy little child.
"You may.", the rich man states looking like he feels empowered.
"I-it's just I need you to—empty your pockets!", Mia yells sternly holding the knife up to the mans throat. I quickly jump to the roof of the carriage and do the same with the driver. I don't believe he noticed because he kept his focus on and only on Mia that whole time.
"Y-you and one army." The man cried trying to stay strong.
"You mean this one?", he turns around clearly terrified of the sound of my unfamiliar voice.
"Y-your the woman on the posters!" He screams gesturing to a wanted sign with my face on it. "Matried Fyre Wanted Dead or Alive" good to know I'm famous around these parts. It only took a little while until we got the goods and left. Hopefully the men won't go snitching on us.
